Marty's GM & Eagle's Nest — Restaurant in Irondale

We ordered take-out at the bar on our first-ever visit to Marty's. Authentic dive bar atmosphere, friendly bartender, accommodations in the front for families, and a 21 and over area beyond the bar with games and a couple of pool tables. Food: I loved my BLT. It was on the small side, but a decent amount of B, and plenty of L & T to keep it fresh. My cohorts both ordered the Breakfast Burger. Expecting the egg to be runny like the photos we saw, and thinking the maple glaze would only be on the patty, they were not-so-pleasantly surprised when their eggs were very well done, and the burger bun was saturated in maple syrup. It had a McGriddle taste to it, but with a hamburger patty instead of a spicier sausage. The homemade chips didn't travel well in a to-go container (2 miles away), but the tots were perfectly cooked and salted. The fries were alright, but nothing...

What a great spot with an easy going atmosphere and a killer burger with tater tots. The tots were somehow ranch infused and perfectly crisp (my friend had the fries and they were just right as well) but the burger...yum! It was called The Goat Popper (pardon the bite out of the burger in the pic, I couldn't wait before taking it). It had goat cheese, fresh jalapenos, and house made pepper jelly. It was surprisingly not spicy so even those that don't typically go for hot stuff can enjoy this burger as well. The staff (including the kitchen peeps) were super friendly and engaging and the relaxed atmosphere could easily be for a quick bite after the kids' games, a nice date night out or a perfect girls' night or anything in between....

We have been a customer here for over 3 years and tonight is the first time to ever think about complaining. The food was good and the service was outstanding as usual. You are a restaurant and bar and at 8:30, I can't get a sweet tea because they emptied it and did not have anymore made. Why empty when people are still eating and you are open until 2. You are a bar with 6 TV's and found out you don't have separate outlets. Spend a little more money. I asked to change the TV closest to us( we were the only ones in the area) to a football game. I was told they can't because some people are the bar were watching tennis and the two TV'S were tied together. Really? Come on, y'all are better than this. I am done...
