Waffle House — Restaurant in Irondale

I regularly come to this Waffle House at least 3 times a week yesterday April 11 I was accompanied by a few of my friends. We proceed to go to my regular Waffle House because I love that the cook knows my order and exactly how I like it cooked. This particular day we had a male server one I have seen a few times but never been served by him personally. As the man walked to our table we were beginning to smell an intense odor coming from the servers body. He proceeds to take the order with an attitude as if he didn’t want to do anywork. I observed that his skin seemed to have dirt on it as well as underneath his fingernails. I didn’t want to be rude and say anything to him personally I would much rather talk to a member of management over this establishment about my entire service on this day. We allow him to take our order he proceeds to tell the gentleman on the grill our order and as I’ve been here plenty of times I over hear him calling out our order incorrectly so when he finished I nicely asked him to step over to double check if our order was correct. When he proceeded to repeat the order to me it sounded correct but I knew something would be off. We wait about 45 minutes which was unexplainable because the store at the time was not busy and our food was ready and sitting. I see our server just playing on his phone taking pictures and different things. I asked him if we could get our food he proceeds to huff and puff while getting our food. We finally receive the order and the food by the time we got it was completely cold but my main problem was the lingering Oder that was left around our table on our plates and anytime the man walked spend. There should not be any person working around food with a body odor. I would greatly appreciate if a member of management would reach out to me about this experience. This place gets one star instead of zero because I'm writing this 12 hours after our visit and none of us have gotten sick after eating the food there. We arrived around 8pm for dinner, none of the staff greet us or even seemed remotely happy to have customers. Some of our utensils were a bit dirty and had water spots. Once the food arrived my hash browns had hair in it as none of the staff wore hair nets. I returned it and they remade my meal but this time they forgot the bacon in my sandwich. It later arrived as a side. My sister ordered a sausage egg and cheese biscuit but only received sausage and a biscuit. No egg, no cheese. Once she was halfway through her food she noticed a blue streak on her plate which we found out was soap so they don't even wash the plates properly. My father got a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and they forgot his bacon too.

Once the bill came we decided to check if at least they got the price right since it looked like it was all done by hand. Lo and behold they overcharged us ¢10 extra on top of charging us the full price for even our meals that had missing key ingredients that they never brought us. We got out of there as fast as we could.

This is the best Waffle House in town- leagues better than the new one just a few minutes down the road! I’ve always enjoyed coming to this Waffle House. The staff is always nice and attentive and food is always good. My boyfriend and I had an especially great experience here the other weekend though- we came in around 11:00am on Sunday not realizing that we were just in time for the after-church rush. It was packed, with several people waiting ahead of us to be seated. I wasn’t sure if we would have time to wait before I had to leave for my job at noon. Well, probably within five minutes they had a booth cleared and cleaned for us and we were seated. We ordered, and got our food out lightning fast. I checked the clock and they had gotten us seated, fed, and brought our ticket in less than 20minutes! It was amazing! I seriously commend the staff at this location, they’re kind and run a tight ship and push out good food. I was very thankful and impressed by the great service, even more so considering how busy and loud it was in...
