Domino's Pizza — Restaurant in Irvine

At first they didn’t get the toppings right. It wasn’t that big of a deal. We called and they said they were going to send out a new one. ETA 45 min. After just over an hour we called because we still didn’t receive our pizza. They said the delivery was out. The delivery driver called me at the 1hr 12min mark. But he didn’t speak English, he kept saying “leasing office come down. No English speak Turkish” (paraphrasing) but we are sick and couldn’t come down. So my girlfriend calls him back as I call the store. No one answers the phone. I called again and they answer near the end of the ring. I explained the situation and the guy who answered said he would try and get someone to help. I waited and he never came back so I hung up. Meanwhile My girlfriend somehow managed to direct the driver to our door. He then tried to open our door without our permission. After he finally left it at our door we could see his shadow waiting in front of our door for at least 3-4 minutes. The only thing that happened right was getting our order corrected. We tried being patient and were very polite. And this may be a one off at this store but this was some of the worst customer service I’ve had and I’ve been to...

Domino’s is Domino’s, but it ain’t your Grampa’s Domino’s! Their updated menu is decidedly superior to what they used to offer. We ordered the Pacific Veggie Pan Pizza (no onions, extra cheese), and it was delicious. The tomatoes were flavorful, the mushrooms were roughly chopped which made for a more flavorful chunkier mushroom experience, and the olives and fresh spinach were plentiful and tasty. We also got the Melty 3-Cheese Loaded Tots. These are a great way to round out a meal, especially with the Ranch and Honey Barbecue dipping sauces. Next time, we’ll get a salad too, to add a cool freshness to our other rich savory choices. They brought our order out to our car, as we’d opted for that when we ordered on the app; and thankfully included paper plates and napkins. We could have used was forks for the tots, but oh well. The one thing I wish was clearer at this location is whether or not it’s ok to eat our Domino’s at the nearby food court tables just a few stores caddy-corner to Domino’s - it’s sort of enclosed and looks like it might be JUST for the food court businesses. We opted to just eat in the car, which was ok (just like pandemic times! #ugh). Overall a good fast-food...

So, every time I have gotten food, this place has been delicious as always. However - today was not a match made in heaven. Well, the pizza was - the pizza always is, you can't mess up pizza, I mean come on.

What was a bust was the salad. Now, you may be thinking "What loon orders salad from a pizza place" and I'll have you know that... well... yeah, I'm that loon. Anyways, not the point. Normally the salad arrives in it's delicious state of preserved crisp lettuce, fresh chicken and so on and so forth. This time, however, the lettuce was slimy and the chicken didn't taste right. Curious, I looked for the label I hastily ripped off and discovered it was 3 days old.

Gross.

So I called them, and the guy who answered was so hectic, poor fellow was probably juggling a million things. Anyways, when he got back to me he was very courteous, shared my disgust, and offered a refund. It was very easy, totally made me happy, and I was able to make sure my delivery person still got the tip. Hooray.

So, I'm out a salad, but now I have Parmesan for my pizza, and the pizza is divine melted pieces of heaven like always. Thank you Domino's, even when you stumble...
