Searching for a new place where to enjoy some local cuisine I read about this place and seeing the amount of glowing reviews it had, I decided to give it a try. My expectations were somewhat high. Our waitress was very nice and helpful and after a short while took our order. Unfortunately that was to be the only positive part of the whole affair. My daughter ordered the kids pasta carbonara, my wife the kids mofongo con masitas de pollo and I ordered the mofongo relleno de pollo. In a matter of 5 min the pasta and mofongo arrived! That was pretty darn fast. I had to wait 10 more minutes for my food. Not a problem. My wife and daughter's meals were well seasoned and flavorful but cold. A recently cooked meal, cold?! My mofongo relleno was hot, well seasoned but the salsa criolla was somewhat watery, the plantains were too chunky, not well mashed and what whatever was supposed to pass as pollo was inedible. It's not an exaggeration to say that it had the texture of cartilage and an unpleasant flavor. After a while I had to stop eating. This was a first for me. Having an experience like that and paying for the most expensive mofongo relleno de pollo I've ever had, left a bad taste in my mouth. Literally and figuratively. And on top of that, my wife got sick from the food when we got home. Never coming back. Worst dining experience of the year. The worst part was that I paid...
Read moreSo we were told of a pizza place on the same street. Gave up looking pulled into this place. It was a nice atmosphere. Outdoor patio sitting with a cool breeze, the music in the background and what seemed like some of the locals enjoying it made us decide to stay. My mom who lived in the next town over had ever been here but we decided to try it. Service was pretty quick. We ordered an appetizer of ropa vieja on a tostone. From the appetizer we had high hopes for the food. And oh my gosh let me just say they did not disappoint! We all enjoyed our food and even taste-tested each other's food too. We had all agreed everything was absolutely delicious. All four of us, ranging from a young teenager to a grandma who knows how to cook. We all thanked God for the happy misfortune that instead of finding a pizza place we found this wonderful place. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal cooked by people who know how to cook Creole food. Not only do I recommend it on here, but I told everyone about this place and that they had to go. This is definitely going to be on my must eat at list when I get back to the island.
11/22/20- back on the island and we had to stop here again. Still good food and service....
Read moreI really wanted to like everything about this place because the experience in itself was nice. Our waitress was very attentive just as everyone else was friendly and welcoming. The mojitos were delicious as well as most of the food my family ordered (octopus salad, mofongo 3 carnes and pasta) that is except for mine. I had the filete de dorado with shrimp. Unfortunately, my fish was undercooked and it had a weird flavor; definitely not pleasant to the taste. Our waitress, who was very courteous, noticed something wasn't right and without me even asking she offered to exchange it for another dish. This is why I meant I really wanted to like everything about this place. I then opted for the churrasco with chimichurri. I mean, how can you go wrong with that, right?!? Well, I don't know if the chef had already checkout for the night since it was near closing time on a Sunday or the damage had already been done to my taste buds but I couldnt fully enjoy the flavors on the steak or chimichurri. Therefore, I walked away a bit disappointed. Definitely not the feeling I wanted since everything else was very pleasant and my family had a nice time here. All in all it is a nice spot. I...
