What may I say? Please keep a ,"Good thing pure." After a long day on Market Street shopping my husband and I wanted something simple. He ordered the filet... for $42.00, the filet was lacking any crust, seasoning, or grilled flavor. The filet was reminiscent of roast beef, with the medium well being more medium rare. Our margaritas were rimmed with Himalayan sea salt which was quite off putting as the salt added a sweetness to the Margarita that is not proper, more of a designer flare lacking in the final step of bartending which is tasting. I ordered the charcuterie which is something rather difficult to screw up... until now... the "artisan" meats were simply overly dry prosciutto, salami, and some other type of cured meat that can purchased at the Harris Teeters down the road. The cheese was lacking complementary matching flavor to the meats... a jack cheese, Bleu cheese, and a brie. I was served a green tomatoe chutney, a homemade mustard, crushed almonds with grilled ciabatta... sad to say the complete meal was a failure. It is extremely difficult to screw up meat and cheese, but this has been done. I am a real-live southerner as well as my husband and there was nothing southern to our cocktails or meal. The chef simply did not seem to care. A good chef passes their passion on through their food. If I were to cook like that at home I would find myself divorced rather quickly. Please keep southern, southern and quit trying to add designer twists to pure, real food. I would pay 42.00 for a darn good steak anytime. Quit trying to be something you are not. The upside, our server was kind, the bartender... not so much... quick tip... for the amount of money we spend here, if we ask you about the flavor of our drinks... take drinks, dump, remake... thank the stars the resort market carried Goo-Goo Clusters to get the taste out...
Read moreThere are actually 2 reviews here, breakfast is a 5 star but dinner is lower at 3 stars.
First breakfast ... It is a bit pricey but that is the norm for a hotel restaurant. The food was fresh and prepared very well. The portions were generous and the service was excellent. The server kept our coffees filled and checked in regularly. The bacon was perfectly crisp without being overcooked and the sausage links were large and well seasoned. The grits and potatoes were excellent although I did add salt and pepper to the grits.
Dinner was a bit of a disappointment. Starting with the appetizers which were the star ... the Caesar salad was perfect with shaved cheese. The croutons were flavorful and the dressing nice and sharp with good hints of anchovies. The charcuterie was appropriately sized and the cherry vinaigrette went well with the meats and cheese. Portion size was small. The entree food portions were small and not well seasoned. My wife got the she crab soup as an entree and it was overly salty. The gnocchi was starchy and not as flavorful as I expected from the description. The promised sauce was hard to find. The bread basket had the tiniest corn muffins I have ever seen and the biscuits were dry and seemed left over from the mornings' service. At $7, I do not recommend adding the...
Read moreWhere do I start!? During our spring break we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner and the restaurant looked wonderful. We waited 20 minutes to place our order, it was not at all busy. We then waited over an hour on our food. Four tables seated after us received their meals before us and two finished their meals before we received ours. There were 3 of us, 2 people did get their meals, however, my steak did not come. I asked and the waitress was clueless, she actually asked twice how my steak was...... there wasn’t even a plate in front of me! I asked multiple times for drinks, our drinks were delivered to a table behind us, with our dirty straws still in the glass, could tell from the lipstick). Once my family finished their meal, I again asked where my steak was and to please box it up at this point. The steak was supposed to be in a red wine reduction/glaze, it wasn’t and had no seasoning. I was charged full price! The manager mumbled an lol apology and asked what he could do???? Shouldn’t you be telling me what you have already done to fix this? I just needed to leave. ...
