Papi's was recommended to us by a stranger on the beach. We looked up the menu and let me say, they have THE best ALLERGY FRIENDLY, including GLUTEN and DAIRY FREE menu! (See pic.) I sent a picture to my MIL bc she hates onions! You'll understand when you see the menu! So, my bestie and I walked to dinner, and luckily we got there early so there wasn't a wait. (Get there early.) We were seated immediately by the front door. Me, being the observer that I am, noticed the total occupancy is 39 people max. Note: it is a very packed tight restaurant. Don't be afraid to get cozy! I also noticed there were 3 levels. Level 1: dining, level 2: more dining, level 3: patio bar! And then there are tables outside for some more dining. They do have bar seating as well. Weaving through tables and a high top, you'll find the restroom on the first level. Let's talk about food! The chips and guacamole were awesome! The chips are made in house and made with corn, so definitely Gluten Free! I highly recommend. If you like salt, these crispy chips are just right! My friend and I ordered the sesame seared tuna taco. I ordered mine gluten free, she ordered hers without any special requests. The size wasn't too big, in fact, they were the perfect size especially if you're going to order more than one. (Which I recommend!) I take one bite and being super distracted by the amount of people coming in, I didn't notice that my taco was on a flour tortilla. I pick up the taco for a second bite and immediately realize what I had done. I let the server know that the taco was on a flour tortilla as I rushed to the restroom. I was not upset with anyone but myself. I am so careful! I guess the people watching had me so distracted. The server said there were more restrooms upstairs, but then a gentleman exited the restroom just in time. Let me say, the GM and the servers were AMAZING and so KIND. They apologized and said they should have caught the error. I felt terrible because I should have caught the error. Some could argue that it's their job to ensure the food comes out as ordered, but cooks, chefs, servers, GMs are all human. The GM took care of everything for us, which was very kind. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant for Gluten Free, dairy free people!

For a place that has been opened only 3 weeks, I appreciate how smooth the service was. The restaurant is decorated well with modern vibe and Hispanic music in the background. The menu had several tacos to choose from which all 4 that we ordered were delicious. The bluecorn chips were tasty, but the queso was a little underwhelming, yet tolerable. If you like straight up cheesy queso, than you'll like it. But if you're looking for a queso with a little bit of kick, probably not the right choice for you. I also ordered the tres leches cake for dessert. The cake is made with pieces of pineapple with whipped cream and a mint leaf on top. Personally, this version lacked authenticity of what is a real tres leches cake. Because it was served in a jar, your first few bites are mostly whipped cream. Once you get to the middle, the cake was a little dry. By the time you get the bottom, you finally get the sweet sponginess texture that is expected from a traditional tres leches cake. I will most likely not order that dessert again but am looking forward to my next visit where I can order the churro beignets dessert. I foresee a lot of potential in this restaurant and I hope they continue to receive good business.

This place was so good! I was here with family and I think my parents chose the place mostly based on convenient location, but we were all wowed by the food. We got a round of chips with dip trio to start, and then I had the Costa Corn and a Mt. Pleasant Shrimp Taco. The three dips (pico de gallo, queso, and guac) were nothing out of the ordinary but all good, especially the guacamole which had a great texture. My dad and I both got the Costa Corn and were both kind of floored by how good it was - the seasoning was delicious (apparently it’s just Takis seasoning), the corn was juicy, and every bite was bursting with flavour. My taco was great, the shrimp was juicy and cooked well, the toppings were fresh, it was a nice size. The shrimp was chopped up which was more practical to eat than whole shrimp on a small taco. The came with half a grilled pepper (I think serrano), which you can add at your discretion to add heat, but I would advise starting with caution if you don’t al know what you’re getting into. The decor here is very fun and the people are nice!

Papi's Taqueria is amazing. We were Introduced to the place by a friend to make up for a BAD tacos from a another local place I'll not name here, from the previous night. P.S.A.: Burger joint should refrain from adding Tacos onto their menu and stick to their specialties; Poor branding in my opinion. Papi's Taqueria offers delicious varieties of Tacos and Margaritas (Big Papi is one of the best margarita in the menu) with a great southern hospitality customer service. Ensure to try your meal with the "unbranded" hot sauce from grown South Carolina soil. Tasted so good that I begged and got a bottle to-go. O! and the Barbacoa Nachos is a MUST have. Bottom line, visit Papi's Taqueria for your margaritas and tacos appetite days when you are on the island. You wont regret it. This place has the accolades of an executive chef for the Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band and Food Network Stars written all over the menu and drinks. Visit this place when you are on IOP. Photos coming up soon!

This isn’t a place you stop by, this is a place you GO TO. 5 Stars because the menu is brave and it pays off with a unique meal that’s a break away from the monotonous. Kudos to Chef Rusty Hamlin on getting creative but still inclusive. I tried 4 dishes and they were all flavor packed and fresh. My favorite would be hard to pick, but I’d have to say the Pelo Del Perro “Hair Of The Dog”. This thing has super tasty cane pork belly. Unexpectedly complimented with gravy, sunny egg, sweet potato hash, and Avacado!? Who the heck does Rusty think he is making something like that. Flavor packed and messy as hell. Not the place for a first date if y’all aren’t laid back. Chris was my bartender and his service was A1. Only recommendation would be I’d have to agree with another yelper that the drinks were a bit weak but who cares with food like that.

Fully enjoyed the nachos. It’s a small little taco shop. The menu has plenty of interesting options. And best of all it’s just steps from the beach. We ordered the beef nachos. It was served very quickly. There was a fair number of chips. Perhaps a touch more chips then toppings. The taste was great we enjoyed them. There was no heat at all for these tacos. So you may want to ask for something to spice it up. That would have made them better. I would say $18 all said I’m done just for nachos was a little bit pricy. However it was a good amount for two for a beach day. The other prices are a touch high as well, but it is isle of palm so that is a bit expected. The only reason for 4 not 5 is cost to quantities of the food.
