Me and my 10 year old son stopped in to grab a slice and some fries. I never been to Brooklyn Square but heard they had good pizza, so I take my son there for an after school snack-Whoa..! Apparently no one had ever done this at this pizzeria before because they staff had no idea how to accommodate us. Most pizzerias have a booth or two upfront by the counter to sit and have a slice this place didn’t so we kind of walked into the dining room and had a seat, an older fellow was sitting, and one of the tables I asked him is it OK if we sit here he didn’t answer me. I asked him again. Is it OK if we sit here he said oh yeah but you gotta order up front, yea no kidding. So I ordered my fries. The fries came out. They were hot crispy. A good size portion kid leaves them on the table no plates, no ketchup no napkins no silverware. There’s a big plate of french fries in the middle of the table so I asked for all that stuff apparently they had never been requested those items before. It was a big deal they had to go look for the utensils and napkins. Then they obviously forgot to put in my slices. I went to go check on them 10 minutes later and they still weren’t done. Kid brings them out a minute later the slices were good better than average. Anyway, me and my son finish up. I need to go box for the fries because it was a large portion. Apparently no one ever asked for it to go box before they had to go look for it. They came back with a container and lid that was the wrong size. I paid for it two slices order of fries one bottle of water $18 and change. Meanwhile, the old guy is ringing me up with like a Desk calculator. I don’t know how we got 18 bucks. I didn’t argue. Couldn’t wait to get out of there and never come back. Anyway, food was OK. Service was horrible and they honestly seemed annoyed that we were there. I guess they only really want to do takeout for their regulars. I’ve never heard of a pizzeria that didn’t have at least...
Read moreI went with a group of friends, a couple of whom were already familiar with this place from living in the area. For the record, we drove past 3 or 4 other pizza places to go to this one. It's not much to look at inside or out, but the food makes up for that. I had the chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe hero w/fresh mozzarella (I probably should have had the same thing as a panini... someone else had that and it looked to be the same size for $5 less... hmmmm). In case anyone is considering ordering this based in my review, the chicken cutlet is breaded and fried... I expected that it would be naked and grilled... but it still had good flavor and the added crunch was nice. Everything about the sandwich was good- the roll, the chicken was extending out the side begging to be bitten off, the broccoli rabe was sauteed just right and there was a generous helping of the mozzarella melted over the top. If it weren't for the fact that I might want to try something else, I would definitely re-order this if I visited the restaurant again (I don't live in the area). The drink selection was limited to a rather empty cooler case (no fountain drinks). Seemed like they had a lot of the same thing, but the choices were lacking (perhaps they were waiting for a delivery). Everyone was pleased with their meals and a couple people had leftovers to take home. The prices were very fair and overall it was a good lunch. Also of note- I went outside to say goodbyes to my friends and then went back in to use the restroom- there was one of the employees sanitizing the table we had used and all the staff were wearing masks. I give Brooklyn Square Pizza of Jackson...
Read moreThis is my 1st review of this pizzeria but I've probably eaten their pizza on 10+ occasions. I used to work in Jackson, so we'd frequently order from Brooklyn Square and I have NEVER been disappointed. The pizza is ALWAYS exactly how I ordered it and the quality has never been a question with this establishment. The way its cooked, the ingredients, the generous toppings, THE FLAVOR have all been in my top 5 slices of my life. I eat a ton of pizza but don't regularly take 50 minute rides to get pizza but whenever I'm in the area, I ALWAYS stop for a pie.
Now keep in mind that im driving this pizza back to Lawrenceville (40-45 minutes) and when I get home, the pizza isn't "freezing cold" like others have stated. I could only imagine that the cold food complaints are either A, incorrectly described or B, delivery issues.
Today when I walked in, I was greeted by a smiling young lady who offered her assistance and I always expect that "family feel" from a local NJ pizzeria. A simple "how YOU doin?" (Lol) and a "thanks for coming, hope to see you soon".... and the owner delivered! He was speaking to his staff about something and stopped the conversation to make sure that I felt that "family feel" that I've learned to expect from a NJ pizzeria. Hats off to BSP for coming through with delicious pizza and great customer service! I wish I lived closer so I could order more often but it is always a special treat to get a pie from you guys!
A loyal and happy customer,
Andrew
