BAGEL KING — Restaurant in Jackson Township

While the bagels have always been good, the service today really lowered my opinion of them. We decided that as a special treat and in order to save time because we wanted to go out, we would order brunch. I understand that they are very busy and it’s hard to keep up, but then change the default ASAP time on web orders. We rushed over because it said 15 minutes and we wanted our waffles hot and our drinks cold. Got there, went inside to pick up. Order wasn’t ready. Waffles came out 25 minutes after we ordered. They were pretty good (a little soggy, so don’t bother if you like your waffles crispy on the outside) but one was missing 3 of the 4 toppings we ordered. Eventually, they gave us 2 of them in little cups. Never got the third. I asked about the drinks and got a dirty look and “they’re getting made”. No one was by the coffee area at that time. A worker went over & made a drink-not ours-then left the area. 5 minutes later someone went over and started making drinks. The drinks came out almost 10 minutes after the waffles. No apologies, at all! Got to the car and realized the drinks were not at all what we ordered. Ordered 3 frappes (different flavors). Expected creamy milk shakes, got 3 blended coffee & ice drinks (all tasted pretty much the same)! Paid extra for one of the flavors (PB). No trace, just some choc syrup around that cup. All 3 had whip cream. Paid extra to get it on one (assumed it wouldn’t be on others if I didn’t pay). A note on the website about possible delays or even an apology from even one worker (instead of dirty looks) would have gone a long way. And, there is really no excuse for messing up a drink order that badly, especially when there didn’t seem to be a lot of drinks going out & that worker didn’t seem to be in a rush at all! My first experience wasn't great. I ordered for pickup via door dash and the payment was confirmed. I arrived at the bustling establishment during a peak period, just after noon on a Sunday. I waited next to where they were preparing to-go orders fire a few minutes but they looked slammed at I made sure not to interrupt. Are a few minutes if not hearing my name I asked about my door dash pickup and they said it wasn't ready. After another minute or two an employee told me that they didn't have my order and that door dash was off. I told her I'm pretty sure it charged me and I'll get my phone in the car. When I got to my car I noticed that it did say that it was a waiting confirmation from the restaurant so I was trying to figure out how to get a refund or something through the doordash app when all of a sudden it told me that they were preparing my order just after I pulled out of the parking lot. I pulled back into the busy parking lot and went back inside where I could tell they were making my order. She informed me that they were out of onions and I said that's okay because I just wanted to get out of there. Upon arriving home I noticed that they forgot the lox entirely but it did have onions. They definitely had lox and I was there because it was right underneath the counter where someone had used it to make an order while I was there. People that work behind the counter every sullen and unhelpful Bagels are doughy not crisp on the outside Hash brown potatoes means cute potatoes with salt and pepper. That’s a new one The way they behave here you are not comfortable in demanding or asking for anything to be corrected. My omelette had so much jalapeño in it that it was unedible They need new help. Very rude In response to bagel kings response, I would like to say that the people that work behind the counter are super rude and condescending. They intimidate the customers so that you don’t feel comfortable asking what an item is or saying what it is you feel wet wrong in your order. My husband felt that way. He’s a 70-year-old man and was made to feel uncomfortable when his order was not correct. And as far as their hash brown potatoes go they are not hashbrowns, they are cute potatoes with however many spices whatever but they are not hashbrowns.
