Hometown Hibachi - Jackson — Restaurant in Jackson

This place is absolutely legit. The yum yum sauce HAS to be homemade, the portions are outrageous (and it's not like it's mostly rice; no. It's tons of protein and vegetables and was very balanced), and the people are so friendly. My fiancee and I tried to eat as much as we could, and we'll probably have enough for dinner tonight AND maybe a little bit left for lunch tomorrow. That's insane for the price point.

And don't let the large portions lead you to think that it must be lacking in quality/flavor. It's definitely in my top 3 for hibachi meals I've had, and we eat hibachi regularly.

And don't let the location fool you. We pulled up and my fiancee was very suspicious that I found this place because it definitely has hole in the wall vibes.

We both got hibachi chicken, and also a crab Rangoon appetizer. My fiancee never eats that but went back for more. The sauce it came with was surprisingly spicy, which is great because usually the sauce is too sweet for an appetizer that's already pretty sweet.

The only bad thing I can say is that it's too far away from Columbus! Bring a location to Columbus and you'll immediately have 2 regulars here. Can't...

As I'm writing this, I haven't even finished my food. I saw a bunch of 5 star reviews for this place and figured there was something shady going on but my fiancée and I were in the mood for some Hibachi so we have it a shot. She's complaining that she's full but she keeps eating. She also said she would drink the Yum-yum sauce but I advised her not to. The chicken and steak are delicious and well seasoned. I ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi, but the experience was mediocre at best. The portion of steak was very small, I received a generously sized piece of salmon drenched in an overpowering sauce. The rice had a peculiar taste and texture, almost like instant rice or perhaps something that had been sitting around too long. It was noticeably off.

On a brighter note, the crab Rangoon was excellent — crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the overall experience left us...
