If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food then this is definitely not the place to eat. If you’ve never eaten authentic Vietnamese then maybe you won’t be too disappointed, however, if you ate here and didn’t like it, don’t let that steer you away from trying it elsewhere. Vietnamese food is an amazing cuisine when prepared correctly.
I ordered the Spring Rolls w/peanut sauce and it was terrible. I didn’t think those could actually be messed up, but here we are. The rice paper was so dried out that I physically couldn’t eat it. It would not chew through. Though there are many ways to prepare these delicious little rolls…there is nothing appealing about huge chucks of vegetables inside of them. They should be julienned so they are easy to bite through. The noodles were gummy and had a very unpleasant texture. The worst part of the experience was the peanut sauce. Ironically, that’s usually the BEST part of spring rolls. Instead of being a creamy little bowl of deliciousness it was a thick, pasty, reddish color of a concoction that tasted nothing like peanut sauce. It was just gross. The spring rolls were the biggest disappointment to me as I usually have to travel to Columbus to get them and I was looking forward to having a place local to order them. That’s just not going to happen.
As far as the meatball pho, it was semi-decent but not spectacular. The pho broth needed more seasoning and was bland. The noodles are not the traditional noodles so they also turned gummy in the broth. The meatballs were the same that I’ve always gotten and they were fine.
Overall, a sad disappointment but I am going to give them one more shot. I’ve read that they do bake their bread fresh for their bahm mi sandwiches so I’ll swing in and grab one. I’ll update this review at that time.
For now, $23 for one order spring rolls, one soup, and one drink. Definitely not worth it. They are still new so there is room for improvement…I’m hoping they can fix the problems and give Jackson a really great restaurant as diversity is definitely what we...
Read moreI ordered the chicken strip basket for my kids, the gravy was cold and had a spoiled taste like it had turned! I also had the shrimp stir fry noodles, the veggies tasted like styrofoam! They cooked the veggies on the grill and then threw them in a Styrofoam container while they were still hot so it melted the Styrofoam and made the veggies disgusting! They also had multiple men standing outside the side entrance that's right beside the dinning seats and the staff kept opening the door to talk to them and holding it open while they had a full conversation and made the whole restaurant smell like an ash tray. I brought the issues with food to the manager and she didn't replace anything, apologize, or seem to have any concern about anything besides talking to the dudes outside smoking. I had to ask if they took anything off the bill since they didn't replace or fix anything with the ruined food and they didn't! Never even offered to replace the bad food which they were at fault for!!! After I asked about the discount, the manager gave a whole 1.26 off the 34 dollar bill!! That's ridiculous! The owner needs to hire better staff and definitely a better manager. They will run this place...
Read moreNot terrible for a Vietnamese place in the middle of southeast Ohio. We’ll probably give it another chance.
Soda was completely flat. This can be a sign they aren’t paying attention to the cleaning detail of regularly cleaning the fountain heads.
Spring rolls were good, but some were hard, which is a sign they weren’t made fresh or were made too quickly not waiting for the rice wraps to soften.
Pho was good enough. They forgot to bring out the mint, jalapeños, and lime. They were too busy to flag down about it.
Food was brought out piecemeal. There was probably 20-30 minutes between the first dish and the last meaning some at the table were done eating by the time others got their food.
On the other hand, the food came out hot and tasty. My son was impressed with the cheesesteak, even though it took a long time. It looked very good.
The service was chaotic. The tables were too small and the waitress wasn’t great at clearing dishes as they emptied.
With all that said, we’re willing to give it another shot. The food was decent to good and I’d rather drive to Jackson for pho than Columbus. I hope they fix their soda machine and get more organized on...
