I got hired here & started work on 10/31. I noticed that they hired me for Fry Cook, yet they expected me to do the job equivalent to a sous-chef/assistant sous-chef. They expect you to do wayyyy more than what the position they hired you on for. They expect you to be able to cook food, read tickets & expedite orders, prep food, wash dishes (even when the service is slow and the servers are standing around doing nothing) - basically run the kitchen all by yourself, even when its busy. Also, I observed employees on their phones while at work... Something that is very UNPROFESSIONAL! Food was not tempt & there was no temp logs to keep track of food temperatures (violation of health regulations!)
They had me working a double shift on 11/05 from open to close (10am - 9pm; 11hrs) & they did not give me a 30min lunch break in between (violation of labor law!). Then the next day that I was supposed to work a double shift, all I did was show up to work ON TIME & asked if I could get off at 4pm, due to the fact that I was not feeling well & physically could not work all day. They let me go home at 2:30, then had the nerve to call me the next day & fire me over the phone... All because I asked to go home early. By the way... If you call out sick, they'll fire you for that too. So its a catch 22 situation; BE DAMN if you do show up & try to work even though youre sick & BE DAMN if you call out sick, cause they'll fire you for doing that as well!
They expect you to work all day in the kitchen with no kitchen mats to stand on (violation of health regulations!). One of the managers here had me doing other stuff besides doing what I was hired to do. I was hired as a cook; I wasnt hired to help put up stuff off the delivery truck or to wash dishes. The owner Mr. Dan keeps complaining that people wont show up for interviews & now, I see WHY. But after this review, he's REALLY gonna have even MORE of a hard time getting folks to show up or even want to work at this location.
They had the NERVE to say that I didnt want to work... REALLY?? A person that gets up at 6:30 in the morning, has to catch two buses across town, then gets off at River City Marketplace & has to walk a good 45min to get to the job & walk 45min from the job back to River City Marketplace just to catch the bus back downtown & then another bus back home... THAT PERSON doesnt wanna work?? Child PLEASE!! They need to stop making stuff up - no wonder they cant get people to show up for interviews!! If I didnt wanna work, I wouldnt have even showed up for the interview, much less put in 40hrs of work over a 7 day period. Heres a tip: Next time you wanna fire someone, try having the cahones to look them in the eye face to face & let them know theyre fired; not punk out & do it over the...
Read moreI, just tried doing the Ethical and right thing here by contacting this location by phone. In hopes to speak with the Manager or OWNER if available. Since this was only our 3Rd visit to Eat at Bono's Ever. All over the past week.
Well, unfortunately. I, should have taken my Husband's lead by writing the Review instead.
MANAGER: RON
Why? such the " immediate" Strong Confrontational behavior because "A Customer politlely asks Can they have your name please so that they may address you as such within the phone conversation?" While attempting to relay the issue to you as the person in the position to address and resolute. WE WANTED YOUR HELP.
You were so filled with ANGER, & ATTITUDE still complaining that you were asked for your name. Mr. RON YOU NEVER ASKED ME WHAT? or WHY? I call...You went immediately into this condescending high speed voice spill of the process of how you and the OWNER resolves issues preventing them to build up to roll over to the following week and then they Are Lost forever 😟 RON again I don't feel this was to be shared with me at the Customer level. And when I tried to express this you became even more condescending and conformational. By stating & Asking "SO WHAT WERE YOUR EXPECTING WHEN YOU CALLED?" I don't know what is even going on you asking Me for My name and now you want to give is a BAD review!!
RON MANAGER/OWNER Below is why I called.
Great Service from the Host Cashier with eye glasses Sorry I didn't get her Name. And out of these 3 visits our (2) 3 MEAT COMBO Dinner Meals 1 1/2-2 hr or so before Closing has been fairly disappointing. DRY BURNT Meats: Dry Chewy brisket & Pulled PORK, Bitter and Scrotched tasting 1pt. of Bake Beans with Hard DRY Turkey & Sausage. pcs.
IT's hard to believe The St. Louis RIB Slab were cooked within the same location. DELICIOUS and my Grandson loved the slab & 3pcs. Garlic Toast.
Attitude. Issues. And taking feedback personally. It may be best for us to visit the other location Merrill Rd, as suggested by my Son & his Wife.
REVIEW UPDATE: 8/30/22

Read moreI ordered food from this location for the very 1st time as I was going to deliver it to a sick loved one in the area. When I arrived, I provided my name and my order was not amongst the orders already bagged. The cashier told me it'd be a few more minutes. I decided to leave and go next door to Publix to buy a few things and anticipated my order when I returned. When I returned, I gave my name again and the cashier searched and still no order for me. I order from other Bonos locations via online OFTEN. I know how things typically work. When I asked what was wrong and why my order was not ready (several other people came after me and were already gone with their orders). The cashier mentioned that my order was lost somehow. I was (confused) and she told me this happens from time to time. I expressed in a calm manner that I was not happy about what had happened and that was not good service and I ordered online to avoid a wait. She and another hostess just both looked at me and looked at one another. When my order was ready, she forcefully put my bag on the counter nearly throwing it (no exaggeration); as I asked for barbeque sauce, she (forcefully) through them into the bag. I could see she was bothered (perhaps by what I said). I held my tongue from what I witnessed, grabbed my bag and left. I was burning up inside. I am a service person and have worked in the Industry for years. I couldn't believe it. However my wife and I LOVE Bonos, but I don't think I'll visit this...
