Fire Spot Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Jacksonville

We actually have tried Firespot twice (delivery). I thought with all these good reviews maybe our first experience was an outlier (like no chips arrived with the cheese dip, things were also just meh). But our second order made me realize how bad and overpriced the food is. For example I paid $9.99 for a kids meal!! That's about the price of a kids meal at a nice restaurant. Just a few dollars shy of what a kids meal cost at a top restaurant at Disney!! And my kids tacos came with nothing but beef in them...nothing else. Then the rest of my family each got a burrito which run from about $10.99 to $13.99 I believe. Burritos come with no sides AT ALL. In addition my burrito had steak in it that was unchewable. Let's move on to the awesome cheese sauce. Yes, their cheese sauce, or white queso, is really good and this time we did get a side of chips. Our side of chips was half a lunch size paper bag full. Half. Compare that to Chili's to go chips or Tijuana Flats and I think you know where I'm going here (or not anymore). I paid $8.25 for 1/2 cup of cheese dip too. So it's a big no from us. I don't expect these people to be in business much longer with the quality and quantity issues they have. I don't usually write bad reviews and try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt but twice now I've felt...

Just ordered tacos on a whim. The reviews looked good, but deceiving. Maybe a one-off night? I know a lot of places have been struggling post-covid, so there's that. Tacos and chips and salsa were at best mediocre. Small shrimp, chips were bland and stale, no salt. Steak tacos over salted and small chewing meat. Salsa was equally bland and the green salsa was way too garlicy. We called this cheap tex-mex inTX. Again, maybe this was a one off. I typically "experiment" with new restaurants here with just an app, so that's an option. We were just hungry, price wasn't bad, so took the risk. Sadly weren't rewarded, but maybe next time.

Hello and how are you all doing? It's me Izzy T. This time in a city I am starting to love. It's places like this that I will continue to return for more and more. As usual I ordered my food to go. I was surprised to see the owner still there. He is a gentleman and appears very humble. I ordered simple. A chicken chimichanga rice and beans. With "Abuelas gaucamole" as an appetizer. I spoke briefly with the owner. He promised me I would enjoy the food. I said if it's half as good as the service it will be fantastic. He was absolutely correct my followers. Fresh everything! The beans very very good flavor, and perfectly refried . The rice, reminded me of my mom's rice. My chimi' I swear the, the best I've ever had. I will see you again tomorrow night.
