China 99 Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Ordered boneless ribs with bbq pork fried rice dinner combo so it comes with a pork egg roll. I also ordered the appetizer crab rangoon.

Absolutely loved how it all tasted clean and there was definitely quality to everything. Crab Rangoon flavor was really good and had a decent amount of filling. Light and crispy and you could taste that the oil was clean and fresh. Egg roll flavor was exactly what I remember as the perfect Chinese food egg roll. Where it fell apart for me was the rice! I wanted to cry. The type of rice they used was the uncle Ben’s type. Not a traditional jasmine long grain rice I’m used to. I actually judge a Chinese restaurant by their rice quality and flavor so I was so disappointed by this. It didn’t have the salty soy sauce rich flavor I love. The pork was delicious! Can’t express how fresh everything tastes but I wanted to cry over the rice. I will be back but will just have to settle for white...

This is my first time going and unfortunately, although the shrimps were large, they taste stale, almost like Moth balls and the rice even with adding soy sauce, was terribly bland. I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp, and there was hardley, any good asian seasoning in the vegetables . As expensive as the meal was about 14 to $15, it should have tasted magnificent. They should have made this in such a way that they would have me wanting to come back. Unfortunately, this was my first and definitely my last visit. Hate to be like this. Harsh, but $15 is a lot of money for a meal. It just tastes like they put the Kung Pao shrimp togethe r that it is not one of their normal meals. I asked them, do they sell it? And they said, yes, but this cannot be a normal meal that they generally sell. Be honest when someone asks you. If you truly sell a particular item.

The food is actually pretty good. The service is absolutely atrocious. They advertise different than they provide. They have clearly made a mistake and when I called to find out why I was Missing items from my order the lady answered the phone yelled at me and had the audacity to hang up. When I called back again she didn't respond. They have.Clearly posted that you are to receive the buy one, get 1 free and a choice of soda or soup. When they did not add the soup I called, I have a picture that shows proof and they did not honor it. Nor did they give me a chance to even explain. I do not recommend spending your money here. As the food is just as good as the average Chinese food place. But the service makes them a negative 10 on my scale as a business owner, when you make an error you own up to it and fix the problem so it doesn't happen...
