8/25/21 update AGAIN NICE PLACE, nice folks BUT!!!! Coworkers was out voted. Since I had no lunch with me I ordered again. Got the brisket w/green beans and collard greens. Same thing again today green beans was a mush mess with very little flavor Collard greens was bland no vinegar, no seasoning what so ever tasted worse than can ones. If it wasn’t for their mustard sauce I couldn’t eat them. Brisket again was soft but bland, again with out sauce it was a soft flavorless piece of something. Tried their “garlic bread” that was a piece of Texas toast thrown in a toaster and had this butter wanna be garlic spread. And this place was voted best in 2018. RATHER EAT BBQ OUT THE CAN THAN THIS STUFF.
Nice little place, quick service People polite, friendly and very home like folks. Ordered the lunch brisket meal, 2 side's. Got great beans, corn on cob and garlic bread. Co-workers got brisket dinner w/ Mac salad, greens an garlic bread. 2nd coworker got chicken coleslaw, green beans and garlic bread. Portion size not worth the price. Brisket was good little tender but flavor wise took us putting sauce on to eat it. Corn on cob was plain and hard, took adding salt to make eat able to eat. Green beans looked like a mush mess but was good just bland. Garlic bread came out with what I assumed was butter so shiny on it I refused to eat it. Chicken was so small I thought my co-worker was eating a baby chicken. I...
Read moreFirst time experience ordering and eating at Gators BBQ. When you walk in there is a small dining area for you to eat and signs for you to order and pick up. I felt very rushed after I called in my order and arrived. I saw the cakes and wanted to add the cake to my order(which was done with no problem) but it also caused my potato salad to not get rung up. I was asked what sauce I wanted but no indication of the sauces available so I just said a mix. The food was good and had certain items that stood out. On the chicken dinner you get two sides. I ordered baked beans and fries. The fries were good. Can't wait to try the loaded fries. The baked beans were ok. They were not nasty at all and also were not over the top but edible. My next dinner was the rib dinner. I chose to get the thick ribs with Mac n cheese and collard greens. The Mac n cheese was standard and cheesy. The greens were heavily seasoned with a pepper taste. Not sure if it was pepper sauce or black pepper but too heavy. The sauces were a sweet one, one similar to Carolina gold, one similar to regular BBQ sauce, and one that was trash that was very liquid and tasted like vinaigrette with a Worcestershire sauce? The cakes were phenomenal!!! Definitely not sharable. With my overall visit, I...
Read moreI'm sure many people will not like my review since "everybody" on the Westside loves this place. So here we go... Place is small and wait time was fairly lengthy on a Friday. Neither of these were an issue with me. Ribs- ok, pulled pork- ok, brisket- ok, smoked turkey- awesome. The turkey was truly amazing but the other three meats were all just ok. Now the sides, collard greens- pretty good, fries- really good and fresh, Mac and cheese- not good (actually pretty bad), fried squash- really bad. The squash was honestly so greasy it formed like a pudding. There was not one individual piece of squash you could even take. Seriously, a mess of greasy, congealed breading and squash. I also felt that the serving sizes were a little on the small side. Ribs an turkey were adequate. Pulled pork and brisket were quite small. As for the side, collard greens and fries were adequate. Fried squash I really don't know cause like I mentioned, a greasy, congealed breading and squash. The Mac and cheese was honestly in the smaller container I've ever seen. It was like the size container that the bbq sauce comes in. So that's it. It really just an honest assessment and I do wish Gators the best. For me, it just wasn't a...
