While driving up to Highway 55, it was quite busy, but that was because the fast food chain was relatively new to Jacksonville. Upon entering, there were a lot of flies, but that could have been just because people are always entering and exiting the doors all the time. It seemed like there were quite a few employees. And my overall thoughts?
The service - Not the greatest, but it was ok. Especially for a fast food chain that just opened not too long ago, it wasn't that bad at all. However, I have seen much better for fast food chains, and I'll get to that later. But you get a menu, and the servers weren't that slow at all. It could change in the future for the better or even the worst because of the fact that the manager could have been there.
The food - I had to rate it a 3 stars, unfortunately. My dad said he rated the hamburger a 4 starts, but the chicken sandwich I got seemed slightly overcooked, so I gave my chicken sandwich a 3 stars. However, my Mom got chicken strips, I believe, and I looked at it, and it looked WAY overcooked. I think I would have rated that 2 stars. I appreciated their shakes, however.
I was excited to try this place for a fast food chain, I have never tried Highway 55 since it has never been inside of Florida at all before this, and although it can beat some fast food chains like McDonalds and Burger King, it did not meet my expectations.
My personal top 3 fast food chains in the Jacksonville area are:
š„1st place - Culver's | āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø
You can find Culver's in Argyle Forest, Orange Park, St Johns, and going towards Jax Beaches. It's not surprising that it can not be found in the midst of Jacksonville itself because Culver's, to me, is like a rich, luxury fast food chain. The craziest part is: that I've only been to Culver's twice, and both were at different locations. The first one I've been to was the one at St Johns (like I said), and the second one was recently in St Augustine. It wasn't until the second time I've been to Culver's that I had an official opinion about the fast food chain. The burgers are the most fresh thing you'd ever get from a fast food chain. There are so many people always getting food from Culver's, and the buildings I've been to were so massive that it almost didn't even look like a fast food chain from the outside. They have a massive menu. There were a lot of employees, and they got the food out to all the customers within a good time frame.
š„ 2nd place - Whataburger | āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø
You can find quite a few Whataburgers in the Jacksonville area, such as the one on the Westside, Orange Park, and St Johns. One thing's for certain is that you won't be finding one in the central part of Jacksonville (by saying that I'm referring to Downtown and Northside area). The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, and they serve breakfast from 11 PM to 11 AM (they still offer lunch during these times). Although they don't get as many visitors as Culver's does, they still have great service. They've always gotten the food out for us very quickly, and I really enjoy their spicy chicken sandwich, as well as their shakes. The problem is that they lack variety, unlike Culver's, and I don't really enjoy their chicken strips. Their bathrooms have always been clean when I walked in (might be different for some people depending on when you've entered Whataburger). And they can easily deal with drive-throughs
š„ 3rd place - Sonic | āļøāļøāļøāļø
Honestly, I wasn't really sure what to put for 3rd place, so I had to put something here. I really enjoy Sonics coney hotdogs, and they have a massive selection of food items. Their concept is to let the customers eat outside or in their cars (or take off with the food). Their service tends to be good, but oftentimes can be a bit slow during late nights, especially during...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all let me say READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE EVEN WASTING YOUR TIME COMING HERE!!!!!
I just saw another review from 2 days ago and my burger sure as heck Didnāt look anything like his did. His burger actually looked good to eat.
A 4.1 is overrated at best. Iād give them a max 3.5.
I showed up on Thursday 7/18/24 around 1215, and went through the drive thru. While there I looked at the reviews and most had to do with the cheesesteaks, pi boys. A couple ppl said the burgers were good. I did noticed someoneās review they had to nerve to compare them to Five Guys.haha yeah in your dreams.
Anyway, there were 3 cats ahead of me and the first thing I noticed was there was no menu board. STRIKE 1.
You have to drive up to window and they will hand you a paper menu for you to look at and keep.
I knew I wanted a burger so I went with the number 6 combo, same as number 1 but with double mea for 13.50.
Not paying attention when she said 12.50, so she handed me the clipboard with the receipt I noticed the receipt shows a place for a tip. ( like at a real restaurant). STRIKE 2.
I revived my order pretty quick, and drive around to the back of the building (near the fire station) pulled into a parking spot to eat.
Opened the bag there was a small fries (which was hot and fresh), unwrapped the burger and saw that it was a single and not a double, wrapped burger back up and headed back into the drive thru when I looked at receipt and saw she charged me for a single. No problem.
Went back to the parking lot to eat and unwrapped the burger again and took at bite and it wasnāt hot at all, slightly warm.ā how can you serve a burger during lunch hours at itās not hot????? STRIKE 3.
I thought they were having opening jitters, and that ppl were complaining about nothing. It would take time to and they would come around. NOT.
There was alot of ppl coming to sit inside and eat. To be honest with you, if your looking for a place to sit and enjoy a 12.59 plus dollar burger Iād go to Longhorns, Chiliās, Applebees just to name a few places and get a way better burger for the same price, and even tip for way better service and quality of food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my FIRST TIME coming here and WOW. Going into the drive thru, thereās no menu. The RUDE cashier hands me a paper menu out the window and then shuts the window on me. I had already looked on the website to know what I want (because there isnāt one outside) because there was a car in front of me and I had time. The paper menu doesnāt have a good layout, because it doesnāt have a sides or drink section on it, and the cashier was rude when I asked what it is. Then after I paid she rudely said she didnāt want the menu back, closing the window on me again. She then comes back to the window to tell move my car up and wait. I asked about how long she thought it would take, and she said āI donāt knowā. I said, okay, well Iām on my lunch break. Does it take 10-15 minutes? If so I need to call work and tell them Iāll be running late coming back to work (itās 330pm now). She gave me a rude facial expression and said āI DONT KNOW. They cook on a flat top.ā Youād think working there, they would know about how long it takes to make each sandwich, but whatever. I just said okay and pulled my car up. The gentleman who brought out my food was very nice and the food smells good. I hope itās as good as everyone says, but my interaction with the cashier had already put a bad taste in my mouth.
Edit: I found a strand of curly black hair, cooked into my chicken. I am...
