Title: A Sober Experience at the Waffle House in Jacksonville

Introduction: The Waffle House, a renowned American diner chain, has become a staple in the hearts and minds of many. Known for its comforting atmosphere and delicious breakfast offerings, it has become a go-to spot for late-night cravings or early morning gatherings. However, my recent visit to the Waffle House in Jacksonville was unique, as it was experienced through sober eyes. This essay aims to recount my sober experience at this particular establishment, highlighting the ambiance, service, and the overall impact it had on my perception of this beloved diner.

I. Ambiance: The moment I stepped into the Waffle House, I was greeted by the familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon. The warm lighting and the hum of conversations created a cozy atmosphere that invited me to take a seat and enjoy my meal. Unlike previous visits, where the haze of alcohol may have clouded my judgment, I was able to fully appreciate the simple yet inviting decor of the restaurant. The vibrant yellow walls, adorned with pictures of satisfied customers, exuded a sense of familiarity and comfort.

II. Service: One aspect that stood out during my sober experience was the exceptional service provided by the staff at the Waffle House. The waitstaff, clad in their iconic black and yellow uniforms, greeted me with genuine smiles and a willingness to assist. Their attentiveness and efficiency were evident as they promptly took my order and ensured that my dining experience was enjoyable. The absence of alcohol allowed me to fully appreciate the dedication and hard work of these individuals, who tirelessly catered to the needs of each customer.

III. Food and Beverages: The main attraction of any Waffle House visit is undoubtedly the food. As I perused the menu, I was struck by the wide array of options available, ranging from classic breakfast staples to mouthwatering lunch and dinner choices. Opting for a traditional breakfast, I ordered a plate of fluffy waffles accompanied by crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. The absence of alcohol heightened my senses, allowing me to savor each bite and appreciate the flavors and textures of the meal. The coffee, a staple at any Waffle House visit, was rich and invigorating, providing the perfect accompaniment to my breakfast.

IV. Overall Impact: Experiencing the Waffle House in a sober state allowed me to truly appreciate the essence of this beloved diner. The absence of alcohol enabled me to focus on the details that often go unnoticed during previous visits. The...

01-11-2016. After our experience yesterday at THIS particular Waffle House, I told my husband, if this was the first time to a WH.....I would NEVER go to another one!!!! I was almost physically sick!!! First off....we had cooler weather outside, and they had the air on, blowing like it was 90 outside!! Very uncomfortable!! The music was so loud, that it was hard to hear what others were saying to you. The employees were very unkept. On top of that....one of the servers had pizza brought in to them and they sat at the end of the counter eating pizza! But the most DISTURBING thing was, when the waitress, Hanna can't to out table to take our order, her apron was TOTALLY filthy...looked like she hadn't washed it for a month! She had her long sleeves pulled down over her hands and she's sniffling, then she WIPES HER NOSE ON HER SLEEVE that is pulled over her hand, (obviously, she didn't wipe it well enough, because when she pulled her hand away, she had a line of nasal slime follow it)! Sorry to be so descriptive, but you can well imagine what this did to my appetite!!!! I REALLY wanted to leave, but I figured, well ok, maybe she'll wash her hands and she won't be preparing my food any way........I drank my coffee, my stomach settled, then she brought our food....she STILL HAD THOSE NASTY SLEEVES PULLED OVER HER HANDS, AND ON OUR PLATES!!!!!!! I about lost it!!!!! Then she said....do you need anything else? I said yes, I ordered a side of sausage gravy for my eggs....she brought me a side of biscuits and gravy, I said, I didn't order biscuits, only a side of gravy......I felt like saying, "if you didn't have the music up so loud, you would of heard my order"!!! THIS WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN ANY RESTAURANT, EVER!!!!! There needs to be a class taught in hygiene for the employees at this restaurant!

We always go to the WH on Roosevelt Blvd, near the Dog Track.....they are so friendly there.....hygiene NEVER a problem, and the food is delicious and prepared in a cleanly work area!

We will NEVER go back to the...

So I got off of work at 2:45am 03/15 I ordered online at 3:16 am. I got a confirmation that my order would be ready by 3:47 am. I called to try make some changes to my order but they want everything done online so the automated message will tell you to go online and hang up. So I did. You would assume that after putting in an order online that your food would be hot and ready when you get there yes… ohh noo not at this Waffle House. So I get there at 3:43 am and shift manager Zee some Hispanic lady with jagged teeth tells me they can’t find my ticket. I tell this lady I ordered online. Remind you I’m tired because I just got off work. I tell her if they haven’t started preparing my food just refund it to me. She says we can’t do that we can only make the food. Okay sure cool fine. If my food was supposed to be ready at 3:49 am why on earth did you continue to make other peoples’ orders SHIFT MANAGER ZEE!! My food should have been priority. I waited to see if she would start making my food but after 15 more miserable minutes waiting in the parking lot I asked her could she leave a note for the morning managers… I DID NOT GET MY FOOD, I ORDERED ONLINE , AND THEY BETTER REFUND ME MY MONEY!! AS I STAND HERE IN MY KITCHEN AT 5:28am PREPARING MY OWN MEAL BECAUSE THEY COULDNT DO! The service was poor I gave it a one star but it should have been a zero, the atmosphere was a one star because I couldn’t give it’s zero but of course it’s a zero I didn’t get what I wanted. And finally the food… I gave it a one star god strike me down if I’m lying…. Because I am…. It should’ve been another zero because I DIDNT EVEN GET MY FOOD!! Horrible restaurant! DO NOT GO HERE...

It's a nice little place to come in and eat some breakfast. It remided me of those diners you see in movies. I could consider even going by myself. My sister and I got the steak and eggs which came with a hashbrown, toast or biscuit and we both got waffles for $26. That is great. It was filling but we weren't stuffed, which I really liked. The steak was small and thin but really, you shouldn't eat too heavily just because it's breakfast so I couldn't complain. I would go again with friends for a chill breakfast experience.

Despite of being a fan of this chane, this particular location shall be restuffed completely! 6 emloyees on the floor, 4 clients, not a single clean table. Even after plates are picked up, tables are not wiped, so they are sticky from edge to edge, not a junk but a debrees on the floor and you dont want to look at the trash behing the "bar". You have to chase for coffee or additional order, and it almost took a fight of who will operate the register to take mine or any other cusstomers bill. Please do something.
