This has become our go-to place for wings, but as you can tell from my rating it might not be solely based on taste and quality. They have a 20 piece whole wing special that includes french fries for less than $20 (I think it was $17.99 the last time we were in there, which was a dollar increase from last year). Their lemon pepper seasoning really adds to the flavor of the wings and we always ask for extra. Even if it looks like they're putting a lot, trust me when I say it's never enough! The food here is almost always hot and recently made, but this is really more because the customers simply won't tolerate fried food that has been allowed to sit and die. They have great lunch specials during the week.
Why the average rating? It seems like they really struggle with orders and timing when they get busy. We almost always call and order in advance and usually are told 15 to 30 minutes, but have sometimes waited one to two hours after arriving to get our food. They recently replaced the tables and chairs and painted and possibly made some other cosmetic improvements, but even with these things the dining room is just not given any attention and it's always pretty dirty with trash cans that are overflowing and floors that are slick with grease. I would say about 50% of the time we receive fewer wings than we're supposed to. We normally wouldn't even count, but a few years ago we got 13 wings and it was noticeably less than 20 and started counting and found that they just don't seem to count. Ironically, we've never received more than 20 wings...:) I'm not a big fan of their coleslaw and we don't even request it when it's included with our meals anymore, which the fact that you have to specifically ask for it when it's supposed to be included probably says all that you need to know. And they usually give a lot of kickback if requesting a free cup for water, even though I've never requested a cup for water with not having otherwise made of purchase. And to top it all off, the wings truly are average. Sometimes they're super small and way overcooked. Sometimes the grease has an off taste. I was out in less than 10 minutes and it was GOOD!!! šššš Update 6/17/18 Today I ordered my food and there was a guy back there with dreads and glasses just stuffing hus face eating with his hands! Mind you it's a wide open, clear view to see everyone fixing food. This dude puts his food in the cooler sitting there and grabs gloves to go back to fixing food. I tell the lady upfront what happened. She tells him to wash his hands. He lies and says he did. I'm like, I just stood there and watched you. He went nowhere near the sink that's right there in the corner but told her he did. He proceeds to take his gloves off and begin fixing food. Still not washing his hands. Touching everything with the hands he was just shoving food in his mouth with. Luckily, my food was fixed by 1 of the other guys while he was doing all this! Another lady said she saw him and that the manager wasn't there today. Trust, I will be calling tomorrow!!!!! Food was good but the experience was terrible! Update 9/1/18 So I get some livers/gizzards. Get home n eating, this huge piece of whatever gets lodged in my throat! They didn't even know wth it was I bring it back. I tell them about it. I tried to tell them once that they forgot my coleslaw last time. They told me I should have driven back to get it. I guess she missed my point, lol. The food is otherwise the best on Maine Street. I am editing my previous review to 2 stars not because of food but customer service. I am tired or begging them to give me what I paid for. Several of my last visits they said they were out of coleslaw but I still had to pay for. Recently they do not want to give you any sauce or say they are out of it at the drive up. Last night I paid for a cheese cake and when I got home and found a cheap stale piece of stale old pound cake in my bag. I have learned from my past experience that complaining is a waist of time. It is becoming more and more difficult to muster up the enthusiasm to return. It's like playing the lottery with your food. I have to keep asking myself before I go there, will it be good today?
