My mom and I came here for a birthday dinner and we were excited to try it out because we miss the food from Okinawa. We came in during a slow hour and apart from another small table we were the only ones there and we ordered the lumpia as an appetizer. We expected something more homemade but when our waitress came out with it they were literally the frozen ones you can get at the commissary. We kind of laughed it off since we had some at home already but we were kind of annoyed at the same time. My mom got the teriyaki chicken dinner and it came out on a sizzling plate of chicken and sauce that tasted like it came out from a bottle--which again, you can get at a store. I ordered the nabeyaki udon noodle soup and the portion for this thing was huge, it was more than two servings and I could barely eat half of it. The soup itself was pretty bland and I wasn't too impressed with it so when I asked something to take my leftovers home with my waitress gave me one of those large plastic cups you see Chinese places use for quart sized soups. It was so awkward trying to get half a pot full of soup into this container and I was almost embarrassed about it too.

Overall, from my experience, I say skip Hokkaido. We didn't try any of the sushi but considering the items we brought we mostly premade and bottled items, I wouldn't trust it. Just go to the commissary on base or to the oriental market and...

This place is horrible!!!! I just made a 40 dollar purchase and all my phone calls are recorded and my husband told her he wanted chicken and shrimp hibiatch and well they delivered after and 1 hour and 10 minutes later and brought him chicken and steak and when he calls up there she's like I took your order are you sure you said chicken and shrimp and I got on the phone and said mam all my calls are recorded and I can bring my phone up there and prove it was said and then she proceeded to say well you and your children! Was talking and I didn't hear you lol but you heard we wanted something with chicken and got all the other correct and never said sorry didn't hear because only my husband was talking and second you don't talk about my children!!! And then she hung up on me and that's the manager!!! Lol and I called back and she said I'm not doing this with you your being rude lady you started being rude and that's when I will correct you and tell you to learn how to do your job! And correct an order. So we didn't get a refund or food fixed at all. She hung up...

This is in response to the lady who wrote about her negative experience at our restaurant. Let me begin by saying that her family came in on Valentine's Day evening and our restaurant was almost completely full, not just four dine in tables. Secondly, I did not see this woman in the back where we pack our deliveries. We do not prioritize takeout/delivery orders before dine in tickets. We had a lot of deliveries/takeouts and sit down customers. The time on deliveries was long, the time on dine in tables was long, and the whole night was busy. Thirdly, we do not automatically add gratuity. The woman did not tip the server and was incredibly rude when leaving. As a side note, there is only one server/busser(the person who cleans the tables/expo (the person who makes sure the food goes to the correct table)/runner(takes the food to the table) for the entire restaurant. Out of all of the people who were served that evening, this woman was the only one who conplained. Thank you for coming in, but please be sure to disclose all of the details of your...

Hokkaido restaurant is a hidden gem. My family and I ate here on a Monday for lunch. We were the first and only customers, so it was nice and quiet. We were immediately greeted by a nice waitress/host that said we can sit wherever we like if we are dining in. The restaurant has a cozy, warm atmosphere that makes you feel at home immediately. The decor was traditional Japanese with a modern touch. Very visually pleasing to the eye. The tables, floors, and bathrooms were clean. The menu has a lot of options, more than a standard Japanese menu. This can be good or bad depending on how long it takes you to decide your order. We ordered miso soups, boba teas, sushi lunch specials, and sashimi. Everything was fresh, beautifully displayed, and didn't fall apart upon eating. The sushi chef took his time, which is evident in the food creations before us. I highly recommend this place if you care more about great food and supporting small local businesses rather than going to another mediocre food chain. We shall be back!

Please read me before going here. Its not me being devious, I don't hold anything personal but I have a big issue with how this business handles money. I ate here not long ago and had an ok meal for the price. However when it came to getting the check I noticed the server tipped herself 9 dollars. I had a 16 dollar meal. Obviously astonished I told them specifically that I wasn't going to tip with my card and I'd do so in cash, and gave them a tip. (6 dollars, I tipp generously) And low and behold not only did they take my cash tip, but I was also charged the extra money out of my account. This isn't about me getting scammed out of 15 dollars, that would be petty. Its not going to ruin my life if I'm out 15 bucks. But this behavior is extremely unprofessional. Needless to say, if I can help someone else from getting scammed then I will do so. So please consider this review before coming here.

We've been here twice now with our kids. The food is great! We got sushi both times and both time it was delicious and the presentation was beyond incredible. The service is what really brings it all home. The sushi chef was happy to have the kids watch him make our food and talked to them about how to make sushi and answered all their questions; the wait staff are helpful and friendly and made "trainer chopsticks" for our kids (the second time we came in, the had pre-made several pairs). The restaurant is small and makes for a great night out where you feel welcome and have delicious food. The prices are on par with other sushi restaurants in the area. I'd recommend a roll, but theyve all been great! Our new go-to spot for sushi!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!
