On a recent trip to Jacksonville, IL, Jenni and I had the opportunity to check out a local bar- KJBs. It was quite the Cheers style place. Kelly, the manager and bartender greeted customers with an a warm welcome (plus she knew the drink orders of the regulars). I enjoyed watching the fun interaction between her and her customers (friends). We had heard from so many that KJBs had the best burritos in IL, so we were excited to try them. When you order the burrito, you pick your size (it does matter) and the items that you want inside. Jennifer's burrito had chicken, black beans, grilled vegetables, cilantro lime rice, shredded cheese and the homemade chipotle sour cream. My burrito was beef, black beans, grilled vegetables, cilantro lime rice, shredded cheese and jalapeños. I love that you get to create your own burrito, so each one is an original, which makes them the best burritos in IL. We also got to enjoy chips and homemade salsas. We tried Ellen's Salsa (mild) and the North of Hell Salsa (name says it all). Both salsas were fresh and yummy!! After our meal, Jenni and I enjoyed playing the classic arcade game- Miss PacMan, so fun!! Playing a game from my teen years with my daughter was a lot of fun- she beat me every time (lol). Then we enjoyed playing on the classic pinball machine. We are not from Jacksonville, IL, but Kelly made us feel like were locals (a regular). We had so much fun- lots of fun conversation, lots of laughter, and some tasty food. When you are in Jacksonville, IL you need to go and enjoy a fun...
Read moreNice small place. Had a burrito that was very good. We were with a larger group and had 2 small tables. The tables couldn't be combined which wasn't a big deal. Asked the bartender for a margarita but he said he didn't really want to make one? Was hardly anyone else in there but one other group that left 15 minutes after we arrived. Then when we ordered food he got the order from one table and went back behind the bar ignoring our presents. We called him over and asked if we could order food and he did. Staff wasn't real friendly other than that I...
Read moreI have always loved their burrito bowls so I thought we would try a Walking Taco Pizza. Bad, bad mistake. We received something that was a pizza shape with what looked like just beans, a total of 10 Fritos corn chips and cheese on it. No clue what happened to the bed of Fritos, the beef, chili, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, shredded cheese or the sour cream but it sure didn’t arrive on our pizza. Was extremely disappointed since this was one of our...
