Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Jacksonville

On 8/9/24 at around 7 pm my mother and I decided to dine in this Steak n Shake. We were super excited to spend this quality time because three weeks ago she had to have lung surgery to remove cancer. 3 weeks before that, she had to have thyroid surgery to remove another cancer. She has not been able to do much other than lay in bed and could barely walk at times. The young thin girl (about 16) taking our order accidentally messed up our order and was going to charge us an additional $12. My mother asked her to make sure the transaction did not go through and she rolled her eyes at my mom. Again my mother wanted her to check to make sure the transaction wasn’t going through. The young girl replied with a rude tone “I would know, because it’s still on my screen.” Eventually the young girl asked to see our first receipt, then crumbled it up and threw it on the floor. Eventually we got our order figured out and waited for our food. They forgot one part of our order, and my mom went up to the front and asked them to get it for us. This time she was speaking to an older heavyset man (around 40 years old). He replied in an aggravated tone saying he was sure that he gave us all our food, but corrected it anyways. My mother asked him to make sure we were not charged because he seemed to have more experience than the young girl. He said “if you were charged you would have got a receipt.” We explained to him that she took the receipt and threw it on the ground behind the register. He picked it up and explained that everything should be fine. Then he went back to cooking without washing his hands after touching the dirty floor. I am disgusted with how they treated my mother and I. Especially after everything my mother has been through with back to back...

We went through the drive through at around 7:30 pm and a chicken strip combo and a foot long hot dog combo. The person at the drive through window was almost robotic popping open her windows and informing me of the cost 14.63. I gave her 15.03 and she basically tossed my .40 change dropping the dime and snapping her window closed. No "oops" or anything. I opened my door and got out of the vehicle and observed numerous coins of various denomominations on the ground in front of the window. I picked up my dime and got back in the vehicle. Now she pops open her window and shoves a Diet Coke out and then a cherry coke with the lid not secure on the cup and red cherry syrup running down the side of the cup. After about 5 minutes she pops open the window again and shoves a sack out. After leaving the drive through I discover that there is only one order of French fries instead of two so I look for the receipt to see what she charged me only to discover that I didn't rate a receipt either. The chicken strip meal that I ordered consisted of 3 little pieces of chicken that were served in a big open box that could have held a triple steak burger....I didn't think I ordered a...

Got two shakes, the cookie dough one and mint oreo. The woman working there served me the cookie dough one first, the description online said it would have whipped cream and cookie dough pieces on top with a fudge swirl. When I received mine it barely had any whipped cream and no cookie dough pieces which was what I was most excited about. I asked the woman why I didn't have any she responded with "oh he must have forgotten, would you want them?" I said yes. She proceeded to go add two tiny pieces of cookie dough and a tad bit of fudge on top. Then for the mint oreo by this point I was already very disappointed. Online description of that one was whipped cream on top with oreo pieces and a cherry. When it was served it didn't have the traditional lid it just had like a lid you would put on a soda. Nearly no whipped cream at all and the cherry was tiny and squished so deep from the lid being pressed on. Both of the shakes had been blended far to much so the mix ins were just non distinguishable. I would never get anything from this...
