Tokyo Sushi and Grill at Normandy — Restaurant in Jacksonville

This is the best place for sushi in my opinion. The waitresses take their time to help you with your choices. The wife and I went there for our 12th anniversary. Tried raw sushi for 1st time there and loved it. They helped me to make the right choices for 1st time raw sushi!!! Most people would not give it a second though because it looks like nothing, but I call it a diamond in the rough!

Update Jan 11, 2014: I still cant get enough of this place. I have yet to have any bad experiences with raw sushi. Apparently some people dont know what sushi is and how it is prepared. It is actually frozen to kill off bacteria. So people complaining about food poisoning aren't getting it from sushi places of any kind. Chances are higher of getting poisoned by a fast food joint than sushi! Also to address some peoples concerns about gay lesbian feelings by this place, they could care less what you are, for someone to make those assumptions and then claim that they might be paranoid are people looking for reasons to make a complaint about people or places. I usually disregard those comments on places as they are usually very inaccurate! Again this place rocks and will continue to rock. The people here treat you great and with respect. They often go out of their way to get you what ever you want, and sometimes they will go to another place to get it for you if they dont make it. Before they started making wontons my wife was really craving them and they actually went to the Chinese place next door and got them for her at no charge. That is above and beyond...

This used to be my favorite sushi in Jacksonville. However, the last few times we went in, we received poor service, the food seems less fresh, and I got sick the last time we went.

The last time we went was during lunch. We sat there waiting for 20 min, even though their dining room was half empty. When they finally came to take our order, they said we “just missed” the lunch specials. It was one min after they ended and we have been waiting for 20 min. We got sick after eating here this time. The time before that, I asked what one of the rolls were. They described it but I got something entirely different then they described. I received a nasty “next time order something you know you like.” And the time before that, there was only us and one other table in the restaurant and the entire staff was laughing and joking at a table, completely ignoring us. I also think they were doing vape or hookah.

From now on I will be going to Ginza on Blanding. It is much, much better in quality of food and...

This is hands down the best sushi I’ve had since leaving New York over 15 years ago. The quality is consistently excellent—sushi is always incredibly fresh, and both the hibachi and teriyaki dishes come in generous portions and are full of flavor.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, and it’s clear they care about both the food and their customers. I was initially concerned that the quality might change when the ownership transitioned, but I’m happy to say it has remained just as outstanding. It's a relief and a pleasure to see that the high standards for both food and service have been maintained.

We were fortunate to become friends with the original owner, who also operated the nearby Chinese restaurant. While ownership has changed and the Chinese restaurant now shares a kitchen with A&D Wings, the Japanese restaurant continues to deliver the same great experience we've come to love over the years.
