Monadnock Country Cafe — Restaurant in Jaffrey

We've always had a great experience here. We've ordered take-out weekly for 3 months, and never had a problem. But today changed my opinion of this diner.

When I called to order, I was put on hold for several minutes until I hung up. This happens, they must have been busy.

I called back a few minutes later and placed my order. They said 15-20 minutes which is normal for a "busy" day. No problem, I always plan for around that.

When I got to the restaurant, they didn't have an order in under my name, and it turned out it never got put in from paper to the computer. These things happen, I took it in stride. I had a pleasant conversation with the woman at the register and just waited patiently for the order. I paid and tipped as usual.

When I got home, the Eggs Irish was leaking and looked like soup with undercooked egg. I called back and was told they could make a new one. So I went back to pick it up.

Let me be clear all of the above was excellent customer service.

When I got there, the server apologized and bagged the replacement meal. A man was sitting where they tend to have a laptop. I was asked if I had the original. I said no, and asked the server if I could see the new one to make sure it was ok (It was). The man said "we can't do that then" but backtracked and said they'd do it today only, but never again and that "they have too much going on today" (it was mostly empty). I simply said ok and took the replacement meal, not interested in arguing with him.

The replacement meal was good, but the attitude of this man has made me lose my appetite for this...

I visited this restaurant in the middle of the week but unfortunately, it was anything but enjoyable. The dining room was practically empty, with only one other table seated besides my own. I came with two friends, and we all ordered omelets with coffee.

While the food didn’t take too long to arrive, the portions were laughable. Each of us barely received any home fries alongside our omelets, leaving us feeling unsatisfied. On top of that, our coffee cups were never refilled, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all.

The service was lackluster at best. The staff seemed disinterested, and there was no effort to make the experience pleasant. The atmosphere was also disappointing—staring at blank, uninspiring walls made the meal feel even less inviting. There is so much wall space, hang a picture or something.

Given the number of great breakfast spots in the area, I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here. The poor service, minimal portions, and lack of ambiance make it...

I have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt on at least 4 separate times. Each visit is worse then the last spanning 2 years. Today was ridiculous. They were busy-ish not horrible still available tables. Waited for over 30 minutes for our food I had to leave so I paid and my girls stayed for their meal that took an additional 15 minutes that wasn’t complete. She never went by and check on the girls and the food as usual was subpar. My meal that my girls boxed up for me was wrong I can not eat tomato’s and of course had a lot of them making the omelette not eatable. The actual service was a joke. Had to ask for everything including creamer, sugar, butter etc. Another waiter helped find the missing food who laughed it off cause it was ‘just sitting there’. To say we won’t be back is an...
