Captain's Fish House — Restaurant in Jamestown

I had this for the first time yesterday for lunch with my mom, I ordered the three item fried combination platter (shrimp, crab cake, tilapia)... upon opening the box I saw that everything was done excellent and upon tasting everything. I was not disappointed in terms of taste. The shrimp were nice and crunchy with a good batter.

The crab cakes were good crab cakes like any you'd find at any beach restaurant. The tilapia was very well done as well. It seems like they use the same batter for everything but this isn't a problem as it imparts the same crispyness for everything and very good taste. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce are both homemade and are excellent although I can see how the tartar sauce could not be well in some people's eyes (although I liked it)

Everything tasted homemade like you'd get if you had a family that went fishing and cooked what they caught for dinner right down to the sauces like I said. I found this place on grubhub, and I must say, I'm very impressed! I decided not to leave a review after my first order, and wanted a little more 'experience' before I left a few words on my opinion, and this place has been consistent with their service. Now, the first order I made, I won't lie, some of the selections on my platter seemed to have been cooked a bit too long, but the last two orders I've purchased were both awesome. The one I just got came piping hot (literally, there was steam coming out of the carton). The delivery time is right on, and the portions are definitely large.

One other thing that I wanted to mention is that this place has the best french fries of any seafood joint I've ever been to, so I was very surprised there. Sadly, the fries do tend to get a little soggy in being packaged with the rest of the meal, but for me, it's not so bad that they're inedible.

The food here was pretty good overall. Everything we ordered came out nice and hot. The sea scallops were a little smaller than some other places but they were seasoned well. My jumbo shrimp were kind of fishy which I'm not used to at all. Some tarter sauce cut through it but I usually don't use condiments. My husband enjoyed everything he received and has gotten their food delivered to the house sometimes when I was working. He says that they have always been very fast. When reading reviews before visiting today there was a bit of disagreement about their fries in particular. I thought they were awesome and finished all of mine. In the past month or so, we've visited 3 family seafood restaurants and my husband and I agreed that this ranks as number 2. I thought the prices were fair and the service was good.
