While traveling to and from Lake Geneva, we were on the lookout for a breakfast spot in Janesville, WI that offered a diverse and interesting menu. We weren't necessarily seeking low-cost food and big portions, but we could see how Citrus Café would cater to those preferences. We were delighted to be served good coffee and breakfast juice. They offer several fresh egg specialties, which are combined with a few pancakes. We enjoyed our healthy options on the breakfast menu. I had the Salmon and Spinach Eggs Benedict; the staff halved the hollandaise sauce for me to make it more nutritious and skipped the hash browns. It was still more than one adult portion. The salmon was cooked very well—not overdone—and fresh-tasting. It comes served on toasted English muffins, which are easy to put to one side if you wish to avoid the carbs. They have nice side orders of turkey bacon, sausage, toast, bagel with cream cheese, etc. As we approached Citrus Café, we could feel the buzz of activity. The parking lot was full, a testament to the restaurant's popularity, especially during tourist season. Fortunately, there's an overflow lot in the back, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a meal here. It's no surprise that this is a favorite spot for families and local residents alike. The décor is fun and draws out the Citrus theme. It’s a fun downtown stop and right across from the historic funeral home that now showcases interior design. They offer designated Mens and Womens rest rooms. Even while very busy, the staff is professional and upbeat. Serving portions are large, more than I needed.

Great value with excellent service! This unassuming cafe is an absolute must for breakfast! Parking in the lot is limited but there is plenty of spaces on the road surrounding Citrus Cafe. There are a few large dining rooms that can accommodate groups big or small. Large windows in the front of the cafe bathe you in light while you eat. It's evident they take great care in cleaning as the tables and floors are very clean. We visited the cafe two mornings in a row with the service and food being consistently outstanding. Each time we were seated immediately and our server greeted us with a smile. They both were very attentive and checked up on us several times. The portions are huge and each bite is full of flavor. The pancakes were light and fluffy with plenty of sponge to them. Biscuits smothered in gravy with just enough pepper. The gyro omelette had feta in each bite (literally). Hash browns with a crisp exterior and took up half of the plate. It was shocking after eating here that there wasn't a line out the door waiting for this local gem! I'd recommend eating here to anyone and everyone. Certainly a spot that I will return to time and time again.

Stopped in on Tuesday morning. Parking lot was full, still had plenty of seating inside though. Cute and cozy inside. Friendly staff! Portions were huge and prices not too bad! I had the country fried steak, it was delicious! It came with your choice of toast or a biscuit with gravy!!! BONUS! The biscuit was hard as a rock and the gravy was cold, not just cool, but cold. They did reheat the biscuit, but it really was way over microwaved and you couldn’t eat it, however, the gravy was EXCELLENT and I’m picky!!! My hash browns were cooked perfectly, the pancakes were huge & fluffy and the omelettes were a great size! It did take our server a bit to get around to taking our order, I think she forgot about us, but she did apologize and food came out QUICKLY! We will definitely be back! Just look at that picture! YUM 😋

The quality of the food served at Citrus Cafe is not very good. I ordered a Top Sirloin Steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, and a bowl of French onion soup. My brother-in-law ordered the Skillet Supreme and a bowl of cream of potato soup. The soups were very good, as was the steak. The rest of the food had some issues. The mushrooms covering my steak (which were also in his skillet) were out of a can (they looked very pale and I could taste the sourness from the juice that mushrooms are canned in). I tried a bite of the mashed potatoes that wasn't covered in gravy and it had a crust on it (mashed potatoes aren't supposed to have a crust). The gravy tasted like it came out of a packet, and the mashed potatoes had the consistency that would suggest that they came from a box. The vegetables were extremely mushy - I couldn't eat them. As for the Skillet Supreme, the sausage pieces that were in it were extremely mushy (I tried one and it disintegrated in my mouth). He ordered as a side biscuits and gravy. They told us that they were made in-house. If they were, they were kept under a cover because it was soggy. The gravy covering the biscuits had very little flavor (I am suspecting it came from either a can or a packet). The orange juice was very good (you could tell it was fresh-squeezed). Overall, I wasn't impressed by the food (which made it a disappointment because I had never been there before and was really looking forward to it). We will not be stopping...

So I was invited to Citrus Cafe by a friend to celebrate her dad's birthday n we had the worst experience.. let's just start here we had a waitress on her first day (not the issue) with no one helping her. We specifically told her that Derrick and I could not have oranges on our plates bcuz we are allergic to them. We got our food and my plate had an orange slice in the side. She totally forgot we told her that bcuz she thought we were the table with an ice cream allergy (again not a problem). I told her I didn't want it bcuz I had to be in to work n wouldn't have time to eat it. This is where it gets good tho. The manager/ owner Yeta felt it was appropriate to bring the food to our table and question why I was unhappy. When I told her I was allergic to oranges she told me well it wasn't touching the burger!!! I'm not only allergic to them but I'm also pregnant so Are you serious? Then proceeds to attack me bcuz I had given them a bad review in December when they left my mother and I waiting for over 10 mins before anyone seated us or even spoke to us. Then asks me why I even came back there. At this point my friend and her mom are so upset they chime in to let her know I was there for them and told her how unprofessional and inappropriate she was being. I will never step foot there again. I tried to give them a 2nd chance and that's what I got......
