SON'S SMOKEHOUSE — Restaurant in Jasper

This was not a busy time, we could not tell they were even open til I saw someone walking around in there and then my husband still went to make sure. 1. The app shows they were closed on Tuesday. 2. The writing on the door said open. 3. As you will see there in one of the pics there is a paper sign on the glass that says order at the window that will play into the #4. 4. Our experience was like this , we walked in and immediately two ladies were talking thru a glass we were stepping around the lady propped up. We stood there for a lil bit and then we notices the tables and chairs just around the corner- lost in their convo no one said anything so we thought go sit down someone will prob. come out. Sat there a few mins. then we got up the ladies still talking almost a feel like if we were interrupting how the lady was gripping about being left with nothing but teenagers to work with in the back. Anyway the lady that was standing infront of the door stays o im sorry you can go ahead!? Huh,? is what im thinking because she didnt even move. The lady behind the glass says im sorry we were just gossiping. I looked at her said what we supposed to do? She said o im sorry there used to be a sign out there that said order at the window. People that have never been will probably think like we did that little paper sign was for the walk up and order window. Future I know you seen us when we walked, you never wanted to stop your complaining to take care of other customers. We ordered from Son’s for a Thanksgiving lunch at work the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I had contacted them 4 times before the day of lunch including the morning before they where to deliver an told them how important it was to be there by 12:30. The delivery lady showed up on time but they forgot the barbecue sauce, she called someone to meet her part way. When she got back with the sauce half the people had picked up their plates without any sauce. A lot of people complained about the food especially for $16.00 a plate.We paid almost $700 for what we got, I was embarrassed about the whole ordeal and caught a lot of ridicule for it. Needless to say most people were disappointed in the food and I caught grief for ordering...

No one made me feel welcome besides an older gentleman. When my fiancé walked in, everyone just stared at us for no apparent reason other than being a young black couple with our life together. The hate given to a man (myself) who served “YOUR” country proud. A man (myself) who has served 2 tours of duty (OIF 8 & OEF10) for “YOUR” country. A man who has gotten hurt fighting for “YOUR” country. I’m not saying that racism is what it was but I’ve we have experienced enough racism in the south to know the difference.
