My family and I went to Coletti's tonight for the first time in a few years. The experience was less than satisfying.
In previous years their food was very good. That has changed dramatically. I ordered the Chicken Angelina which was a fatty chicken breast with 2 pieces of asparagus atop baked under parmesan cheese, served with a side of angel hair pasta covered in oil. My daughters both ordered Rigatoni Vodka, served "cold" let alone with zero taste. I allowed my nearly 13 old granddaughter to order a sirloin steak that we asked to be cooked "well done". It came blood red, not once, but twice, after being sent back it was still returned blood red.
We spoke with the server who sent the owner, Rick Coletti over. Not to apologize, but to be combative. He stated they're trying to draw business since they're "off the beaten path". I explained that I didn't wish to pay for food that was not edible and that was not eaten. He said he would adjust the check, he adjusted it by taking $40 off which left 4 of us hungry with s $97 bill. We had an appetizer, soft drinks, 2 glasses of wine, salads (that were included in the dinners we didn't eat) and 2 "children's meals" for my 2 younger grandchildren.
We requested to speak with him again to dispute such a charge for poor quality, cold let alone not eaten food. To which he threatened to call the police.
Mind you, I had patronized this restaurant many years in the past. I had my husband's 50th as well as my sisters 50th birthday there.
Mr. Rick Coletti, if your hope is to draw customers, you should not charge them $74 and have them leave hungry.
Never will I attend your establishment again, nor will I recommend friends or family.
Such dissatisfaction. Pass...
Read moreI fibbed. This is a 10 star restaurant twice as good as any 5! Better than Alfredos in Rome when Alfredo made his specialty tableside and let me lick the pan, better than the 5 star in Naples/Amalfi Coast where you sat cliffside at sunset and ate drank & sang thru 10 courses and way better than any pizza in Florence!!!!The food was great, the bar looked outstanding (better than Achatz's bar only joint), the decor was perfection( reminded me of Como Inn during their hay day), the staff was attentive and covered for each other seamlessly, the music was CLASSIC and I' m sure the Chairman, Deanno and Perry would approve....heck I expected to see them wander by any second. They had a private dining room for events. Collettis is family friendly, kid friendly and neighborhood friendly. They deliver and THEY CATER. Great for business lunch meetings in your office, great for friends, great for romance too! I'd have to use a dictionary/thesaurus to use enough compliments. And did I mention the chef (if he has ingredients) will whip up anything you'd like that isn't on the menu that day? Try their turkey, bacon avocado sandwich for lunch. Or the lasagna, blackened Tilapia, ravioli di Lara (fish specials thru Lent!) OMG veal lemone or sweet potato fries.....long timers at the next table were remembering their faves. ..heck "never had a bad meal here". They kept going thru below zero, 24" of snow, nothing stopped them. Just remember "All roads lead to Colletis". Free parking, great music great food....hope they keep going another 75 years! Fantastico! (And if you know the side street short cuts, good for long layovers at O'Hare) AND ACCESSIBLE BY...
Read moreThe other week my girlfriend and I ordered delivery and had a terrible experience. We ordered bruschetta, french fries, fried mushrooms, a steak sandwich and a burger. The 3 appetizers were fine, the 2 entrees were not. The food arrived 25 minutes early, the burger was cooked to a level that was UNSAFE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION and the steak sandwich was blue rare (ordered Medium). When I called, they stated they would give me a $10 coupon for my next order, I stated that the steak sandwich was $18 and the burger was $13 (all prices before tax and delivery) and that this was unacceptable. She bumped it up to $15 which I again stated was not fair. She bumped it to $18 dollars, again, I said that is not fair. She said would you like to speak to a owner which I said yes to. The owner stated he would give me a $25 coupon to which I explained again the food was $31 before taxes and delivery. After a little back and forth his response was “If you are really that unhappy with the food and DIDN’T ALREADY EAT IT, leave it on the porch and I’ll have a driver pick it up. When the food gets back to my kitchen I will give you a refund if you didn’t actually eat it.” I said “please send a driver, I’m headed to the porch with the food now.” I ended up getting a full refund but that was after a 15 minute hassle on the phone and being called a liar by the owner. I worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years and have been ordering/eating food for many more than that, never in my life have I been treated more rudely...
