Los Azares Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

I ordered based on a 4.4 out of 5 star review. I don't know who's giving 5 star reviews but this place does not deserve 5 stars. The carne asada is bad. $5.95 for one taco on one of those tiny tortillas with literally 20 tiny pieces of meat on each one. Its like they count the pieces for each taco and gordita. The gordita had little pieces of meat spread out, literally, with space between each piece of carne asada. The meat tasted old and chewy and fatty. I will never go again. I thought they were the same owners as Los Azares on 7148 N Harlem. That place is so much better. Avoid this place (the Nagle location). I will not be going back to this one.

Oh and they charge extra for onion and cilantro. What is that all about???? For that extra charge you would think they would load it up with onion and cilantro, Check out the pic. Would you pay...

Service was excellent. The food was very underwhelming to say the least. The steak tacos were 7/10 but the rice tasted like the Mexican rice you cook from a box, super salty and not authentic. The salsa was the best thing I had but its pretty hard to mess that up. The pastor lacked flavor. The tacos have very little meat in them like they're counting how many pieces are put in. All in all I'll probably never dine here again unless I'm in a pinch. If the food is not up to par you have to increase portion size. Look at amigo chino, the food is super mid but the large portions make up for it. You're better off spending your money at amigo chino or if you want great tasting, authentic food try el pueblito or...

I Ordered the steak tacos for me and my fiancé. She’s very particular when it comes to Mexican cuisine (she’s Mexican and thinks she’s the ultimate food critic when it comes to authentic Mexican food) haha this place passed with flying colors. The STEAK tacos are very good. Like super good-good. You can get them with either onion and cilantro or the works (lettuce, tomato and cheese). Finding a good taco place near Jefferson Park has been tough but this place is by far the best around!!!
