Mr D's Shish-Kabobs — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

I first saw them on Chicago's Best and wanted to try that steak sandwich. I love Mr. D's. Friendly people and good food! All around the atmosphere is pleasant with many customers and staff joking with one another. Being outsiders we didn't feel out of place at all. My mother had a burger and ate every bite, which is not typical. She tends to make 3 meals out of everything. She loved the fries, but those she didn't eat many of, which wasn't a problem, because, between her guy and me, we helped her to dispose of every last one. He had a shish-kabob and although he loved it, it was too much for him. I tried it and it was very tender and charred just right. Very good. I had the famous steak sandwich which was good enough that I also had one to go, which I reheated in the broiler with some mozzarella cheese added. I never reheat or save fries, but theirs are so good that I did this time and reheated they were just as good. I only wish I was closer, so I could eat...

I like this spot, and it definitely has one of the best sandwiches I could find here in the area. The place is just a simple and small place, but it is true that you should not judge the book by its cover, because no matter how it looks, I was really surprised at how good their sandwiches are. My friend recommended this place, and it was my first time visiting it. I am a fan of steak sandwiches, and that is exactly what I ordered. The customer service is great. It is quick, and the people inside are very nice and friendly. Also, they do not have many options on their menu. The steak sandwich is fresh and hot, and it is also huge. Overall, it has great flavor. The bread tastes fresh, and it has a nice texture as well as the steak. This is the kind of place any neighborhood should have. Their menu is small but it's all good. The husband and wife duo who've been working/running this place are a treasure. Both are very kind, hospitable, generous people I've ever met. My son and I visited Mr. D's for the very first time. Saw Mr. D's being featured on Chicago's Best (YouTube) back when Ted Brunson was hosting. We went there for the Steak sandwich (All sandwiches come with fries). It's so good my son ordered another! We dined in and witnessed the number of people who'd stop by and order/pickup their food. The place is small but the two can accommodate the orders that come in w/o any problems.
