I woke up today and showed my husband the Conchy Joe menu. Surprisingly, we hadn’t been there before. I was excited when he said yes. We got ready and drove over. My husband went in ahead of me with the kids - I was taking a picture of the outside. It was about 3:45pm. and there are three young ladies (Vanessa, Bella and Susie) at the front desk. When I enter, a few seconds after, I see my husband and kids standing there as Vanessa is attentive to her computer and on the phone and Bella and Susie are on the cash register.)
We’re there for about 2 minutes, in silence, waiting while the three employees are behind the desk, attending their business and conversation, and not paying attention to us, once. Then, a group of older, Caucasian folks walk in, 3 of them. (we’re a group of 5, standing right in front of them, only we we’re Brown, like Vanessa.) (you can see this in the pictures. ) Immediately as they come in, they are greeted by Susie. Susie welcomes and greets them to Conchy Joes, offers them service within a 30-40 min wait.
I immediately ask my husband if they ever greeted him, because they hadn’t yet said a word to us, the time I had been standing there. Vanessa, even though on the phone, heard my question, showed sympathy and apologized. I couldn’t believe it so once again, I asked my husband if we had been acknowledged and my husband said, we hadn’t. Not even greeted - they were just engrossed in their business. I then asked the employees, why did those other folks get acknowledged before us? Why were they greeted and offered a time frame as they walked in, but we were left to stand and watch this happen right in front of us.
I’m so sad. I really appreciated Vanessa’s apologies. The other group of folks walked right back out when they heard the wait time. I would have waited there with my family because that’s what we were doing today. We were going to Conchy Joe’s I was excited to enjoy them, but got the disappointment of not being treated fairly and not getting to try their menu. It’s unfortunate for me and my family to be treated this way at such a beautiful place that I wanted to enjoy. I appreciate Vanessa’s sympathy but Bella just walked right away as I asked for answers and Susie responded to me the wait time it would be but showed no empathy nor cares to acknowledge her obvious negligence and disrespect. Those other folks didn’t have a reservation so it just boils down to one thing. They didn’t respect what we look like and man, that hurts me personally and it hurts the server we would have had because we love to treat our servers well, as much as we appreciate great service. I ALMOST appreciated what had happened, after leaving Island Beach Resort, which is where we went after leaving Conchy Joes and we had an...
Read moreI am so disappointed in conchy joes after my experience this evening. I am a local registered nurse and work within this wonderful community. I was ready to enjoy an evening out on the town after a long work day. I arrived around 8 oclock and was sitting next to this lovely little family at the outside bar. We were all there to listen to a local band which this family follows from venue to venue . We were dancing and having a good time when 2 females approached and without asking if they could lean in to order a drink began rubbing up against this families young son who was clearly getting upset due to this rude behavior. He asked them to backup and give him so space. One of the females who had clearly been drinking started to confront the young man and ask what his problem was. He said you are invading my personal space. She proceded to argue with this young man and actually sat in the seat this young man was occupying. This female was clearly in the wrong and continued to argue with him. At this point the bartender stated that he had to deesculate the situation and asked this family of 3 to pay the bill and leave. The family was in disbelief and paid the bill and left. After a short time after those same 2 ladies approached the bar once again and were asking for more cocktails. If the establishment was trying to deesculate the situation then why were these ladies allowed to stay and this sweet family asked to leave. Do better conchy joes!!! I will not be returning to this establishment anytime soon which is a shame. Management was no help and stood by their bartender which is a testament to what the future holds for this growing franchise....
Read moreI have driven by many times but hadnt ever stopped until a friend came in town. On his suggestion I met him and his wife. The location is on the water eith a decent deck out back to feed birds (which I wasnt as happy about, since I was at a table closest to the dock and it was open air.) which a few kids were doing.
The staff was very nice and once my friends arrived we ordered.e and my friend ordered the burger. His wofe ordered the pasta special which I cant exactly remember, but it had shrimp and looked amazing upon arrival to the table. At the end, she said it was very good.
As an app, we ordered the conch fritters and they were good, although I do prefer mine a bit more crispy on the outside. But still tasty.
The burgers were good. My only issue was the bun was sliced downward, so gripping the burger was a challenge as it slipped out of the bun on that slope. Eventually I made it work. Burger was juicy, although I wasnt asked how Id like it cooked and it came out a bit over medium which I would have asked for Medium Rare. The fries were ok. Not bad, just not great. My buddy had the bacon budlrger and he said it was good and the bacon was crispy. Both of us ate the entire plate.
They had plenty of parking and are building a new outdoor area right on the water with a stage, what appears to be a large tiki bar and that eill be nice once in. Although the place is much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. Atmosphere is fun and very florida. They are popular and have a merch shop as you enter.
All in all a good expereince and I would...
