Ok so as soon as I walked in the shop the owner Mr. Daniel greeted me at the door and was super friendly, but this man threw the gauntlet down! He straight up said his Bahn Mi are the best in town. Now this is a pretty bold statement coming from an area where Vietnamese Bahn Mi shops are a dime a dozen with a more than a few exceptional spots. Mr. Daniel though stood by his product saying I wouldn't have better. I told him that I'd give it a try and if it was good I'd write him a review. THIS BAHN MI WAS DA BOMB DIGGITY! From Bellaire back to the Northside this place is hands down the best Vietnamese sandwich shop in town! It just hit all the right notes with savoriest bbq grilled pork I've ever had. The meat is cut from ribeye and is marinated in god knows what kind of sauce but man oh man it's delicious! Both the baguette to the vegetables, according to Mr. Daniel are freshest of the fresh, and the man aint lying! The pickle carrots have a nice crisp crunch followed by the waking spice of the jalapeno and quickly cooled by a tasty freshy fresh cucumber and cilantro. We ordered 5 and got a the 6th one for free and I myself ate half of them! I truly recommend them if you're by Hong Kong Market on Bammel and Veterans Memorial right behind the carwash. The prices are right and the food is superb! You can't go wrong! I'd post pictures but the sandwiches didn't last ...
Read moreA very small local Vietnamese restaurant located near the Hong Kong Market in FM 1960. Where it's located doesn't look ideal but I will guarantee you won't be disappointed.
The restaurant itself is very small but it's very clean all around. They don't just do sandwiches, they also have another traditional Vietnamese food. I choose the pork with fried egg with a Vietnamese coffee. The coffee itself was okay not as strong as I like it but the sandwich was very good and I really enjoyed it. I ate in but I saw a lot of takeout as well. Everything is fresh and made to order. I saw two ladies disappointed they did not have the croissants which I assumed must be very good as well.
The only reason for the minus 1 star is my mother wanted a ice tea and there wasn't a lot of unsweetened tea choices. But that shouldn't stop you from coming. I wish they were closer to where I live because I probably do what everyone else is doing and do more of a takeout than dined in.
Overall its a good restaurant and if you are by the area definitely stop by...
Read moreThis is Houston, there are a ton of Vietnamese spots that serve a bánh mì, but if you want a truly great one, this is where you need to go. Let me tell you a few reasons why. First, the cuts of meat are much better than at other spots. The pork belly, beefsteak, and BBQ pork are my favorites. Second, the veggies they use are seriously fresh. This is really apparent, and will really make you look at other Vietnamese sandwich spots different. Third, the option for a fried egg adds a whole new dynamic to the sandwich. Some other places offer this, but not all of them. And lastly, this place gives you the option to get your sandwich on a croissant! A freaking croissant people! Now your sandwich has the option of obtaining a whole new level of buttery and flakey goodness. All of this combined makes this blink and you missed it location the top place to go when you crave a bánh mì. You will not be...
