My son and I went to Oishii as a second choice, as our preferred restaurant was closed. Having never been before, we weren’t sure what to expect. This is a family owned establishment, and the teenage daughter was hosting. In the manner of GenZ, she gestured for us to sit anywhere and seemed bothered we were there. There were three other tables, and all of them had food already. She brought us menus then forgot we existed - she even said “oh I forgot about you!” - and I had to ask if we needed to get up from our table to order. The bill for two of us was $65, which seemed reasonable for what all we ordered. My son didn’t want to eat some of his sushi, stating it looked like rubber. On the front of the menu, it states an 18% service fee for parties of 6 or more would be added automatically - pretty standard for a large party. However when the host brought our check, I noticed that the service fee was added to our party of 2, bringing the bill closer to $72. When I asked the host about it, she walked away to get her mother - I would assume the manager/owner. When I asked her about the fee, she said it was because we dined in; that because they provided us the service of serving us inside the restaurant, we had to pay this fee, and if we didn’t want to pay it next time just get our food to go. I wish I was making this up, but the woman refused to let me finish a sentence. Needless to say, we won’t be going back, or ordering to go.
Edit to comment on the owner’s response “because too many customers not give tip that is why we add the service fee in the computer” Tips should be earned, not required or expected. If your business can’t survive without gratuity, increase your prices or demand better service from your employees. Forcing your customers to tip you in the guise of a “service fee” is not a good business practice. How many people don’t see this “service fee” and still leave a tip on top of the 18% you already charged them to sit in...
Read moreThis was a takeout so I'm giving some lead way. First the food was pretty good. I would say great but we had one temperature issue. The steamed dumplins were cold when I got home and I live barely over a mile away. The Spicy Red Curry Shrimp was very good and prepared to order - not so spicy. The Hollywood, Rainbow and Shrimp Tempura rolls were all delicious. On service time, that's another story. On the phone I was told the food would be ready in about 35 minutes. I got to Oishii after 30 minutes. After a small billing issue I heard the hostess say to a waitress she couldn't find my ticket in the kitchen. The waitress went back to the kitchen and found it and I was told it would be a few minutes longer. 65 mins after I ordered I got my food. In all fairness to Oishii, THEY WERE SLAMMED! And I was very happy to see them with so much business with what's going on. This is an excellent restaurant for sushi and I've been told by relatives who've lived in Japan and said the noodle dishes were the best they had...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I took my son to a movie and after he wanted rice. Drove to this place and walked in at 7:45. They don't close until 8:30. The young girl just looked at me and an older one did the same. I asked if they were about to close. The older one said, "No! Yall come on. We've just got 30 minutes left so that's why we're looking at you crazy." I told my son that we were leaving Behar if they wanted to act like that, they wouldn't get my business. If the employees don't want to serve 45 minutes before closing, then the owner should close the lobby an hour early to give these employees time to clean out whatever. This was the rudest waited I've ever encountered. Luckily my son was with me so I didn't get ugly with her. Hopefully this review will save someone else from a...
