Not sure where to start. The food was good. Not cheap though. Not like the truck used to be a few years ago, but that’s understandable. The Philly was not filled nearly as much as they used to, even smaller than before, and the prices have risen much more than before as well. But my sandwich was good regardless. The fries were very good but I did ask for no ranch on my buffalo fries and they came with ranch anyways. I am extremely picky to the point I will get sick if I try to eat something I don’t like but I did push through and eat these not to cause a fuss. My child’s chicken Philly was cold and unappetizing. She did not touch it and I tried to take a bite and almost spit it out immediately. The dining room is extremely small and bare bones and awkward. White walls and bright fluorescents make for a headache. Feels like a dentist office. They have nothing on the walls so everything echoes and it made me feel very nervous trying to eat there with my children while other people were there. It actually felt like people were quiet and tried to leave because of us unfortunately. It wouldn’t cost much to find some decorations at the dollar tree or an antique shop and make it much nicer in there and reduce the noise. There’s no music, just a tv, that’s turned down very low. The cashier was nice. We might come back? I have mixed feelings because my meal was pretty good but there were other things that left me feeling awkward. For us paying just as much as bigger restaurants it should not be so bare bones in there. It would be cool if the kids dessert was not just prepackaged cookies. They should invest in a drink machine as well. They only offer bottled drinks. I got a tea and was not a fan of the one that was offered. Kids get a capri sun. Personally I try not to load my child up with sugar. I do hope they can improve upon certain things because they could be doing much better I think! I do not want to deter people from coming here but I also want the owners to be able to improve from an honest opinion. I think people should come here, because the food is good, and hopefully if they make more money the experience will improve to feel more worth the cost. (Spent $50-60 on our meal, this is relatively similar cost to eating out at a big chain restaurant for all of us but without the comfort experience. And I think that’s part of...
Read moreWell...I had heard from my coworkers and one other individual not to go here but I've never had a bad experience with the food truck in jc so I didn't listen. I called in and placed an order. They said 30 mins. A man took the order...so who was he the manager or cook? All i know is a physical person took my order. I wait 20 mins and head there. I am greeted by two girls chit chatting which isnt a problem they were pleasant, I pay and they tell me order is not ready. I understand and sit down. 15 more mins go by and one of the girls say, we don't have your order at all...how the heck does that happen when a physical person took it? Did they take it and get raptured? Liars. Total liars. Im pretty sure he just pretended to take my order and since it was during shift change, they didn't want to make it. An obese individual came out to take his break and a skinny curly haired guy left before him. I got my money back and I'll never go back. Time wasters. Kept saying it didnt print my ticket when they put in my order? So what, what did you do before tickets? Just not have a business? Maybe going back to pen and paper would be good for you guys. Another woman was in there saying they double charged her online. Food is super expensive as well. Buffalo chicken fries $15. I also had a bad feeling about this place and shouldve...
Read moreI just finished eating their Philly and fries for the first time. I ordered it on a whim, hungry while sitting around at work. I expected an ok Philly that would have hard bread and stringy meat. I mean, that’s just par for the course in NE TN.
Admittedly , I am spoiled. I have had the best Phillies in Philadelphia, both cheese whiz and provolone. I’ve had them from John’s, Dallasandro, Pats, Genos, etc. I’m a fanatic.
The philly from Alley Kay is the best I have had in a decade. It is on par with what you would find in Philadelphia and is better than the popular tourist trap spots.
The bread is SOFT, the cheese is melted, you have a choice of provolone or whiz or BOTH. People underestimate how bad bread can ruin a steak, you won’t have to worry about that here.
The meat they used is perfect for a cheesesteak, not too stringy and not so tender you forget you’re eating a sandwich. They give you just enough so you don’t feel like you’re going to die after you eat it.
I cannot say enough good about this place. I would put any amount of money on this being the absolute best Philly you can get in our area and the region overall.
The fries...
