I have heard great things about this restaurant from friends that have had past experiences here. Friends have told me that the restaurant is going downhill and I wish I would have listened. The entire experience from start to finish was terrible. After waiting 15 minutes we were finally “greeted” by a waitress that honestly seemed annoyed at our very presence. In my opinion, the restaurant honestly wasn’t very busy. There were 6-7 tables, three of which were parties of two and this is on a holiday night so I would assume they would have been prepared for a larger number of guests anyway. We were seated at 7 and we didn’t receive our food until 8:15. We ordered two steaks (one medium and one medium rare) with no mods to the plate. There was a family of four that sat down behind us about 30 minutes after us and they actually received their food before we did (with at least one of them eating what appeared to be a medium steak). Our waitress was obviously overwhelmed and I had patience for that but not the attitude. However, when the steak came very undercooked (I ordered medium and it was a rare- the center was cold) I told her very nicely that I wasn’t happy with the temperature and she had an immediate attitude, walked away, and we didn’t see her again. The manager on duty wasn’t much better trying to argue that it just seemed rare because the steak was thick and that a medium on thick steak will have a cold center. Instead of just apologizing and admitting the steak was undercooked, she was making excuses. She asked if I wanted a new plate or a steak cooked medium well instead (still not able to admit that what I was given was not a medium) but I simply told her that I was fine and I didn’t want anything because I was afraid of the time it would take because of the time the first steak took and honestly I was just ready to leave. She had no issue taking the meal off our bill but was condescending the entirety of our conversation . We were very disappointed with the...
Read moreI recently enjoyed dinner at Wellington’s with my girlfriend and parents on a Sunday evening. We were greeted with warmth, and escorted to a dark wood table next to a stone fireplace.
As appetizers, we ordered the fried dill pickles and collard green dip. The fried pickles came as thick-cut chips with a dipping sauce. The dipping sauce appeared to be ranch, but was actually a slightly sweet sauce which did not pair well with the dill pickles; it was cloying. The pickles were delicious on their own. The collard green dip was smooth, creamy, and tasty! However, the collards were not cut to an appropriate size. We had several large pieces of greens, including a large, tough, 3” leaf. One star was taken away from food rating because of the appetizer issues.
The main course was evenly split among our party: 2 filet tips in Yee-Haw Dunkel Sauce, and 2 seared scallops. The main courses were beyond reproach. The filet tips were tender, moist, and in one of the most delicious sauces I’ve ever tasted. The seared scallops were excellent as well; properly cooked, appealing seared, and paired with delicious sides. Wellington’s managed to make spinach appealing for me by saiteeing it with country ham. I also ordered the roasted mushrooms, and they had a deep, toasted, umami flavor - very well cooked!
Dessert is where the food lost another star and service lost a star. Our waiter listed the desserts, and we ordered a couple dark chocolate Panna Cottas to split. They came, and something was immediately amiss: the texture was too loose and the dessert spreading on the plate. The flavor was decent, but completely lacked the rich, creaminess associated with a panna cotta. When I inquired, the waiter later informed me that it was vegan; he did not share this fact earlier. A vegan panna cotta is not a real panna cotta. It tasted too light, too airy, and resembled a loose pudding. Will definitely be returning, but ordering different appetizers...
Read moreOverall 5 STAR DINING EXPERIENCE!! Our party of five celebrated a milestone birthday at " Wellington's " recently. " Alicia" and " Heather " ; who are part of the Events Team there could not have been more helpful, professional or wonderful. The ambience offered at " Wellington's " provided the perfect atmosphere for our small gathering. The fireplace and room appointments all make for a very special surrounding , both inviting and memorable. Our server " Emily " was exceptional! Her knowledge, professionalism and attentiveness to our table was superb! She was attentive, without being persistent. The food selections we had were incredible! The " Reconstructed Wellington " is something that words cannot adequately describe. All one can do is highly recommend it to others to experience for themselves. No one will be disappointed with it. The Salmon equally was very good. The appetizers, especially the Deviled Eggs, were absolutely delicious. The only ( and I mean Only) criticism our party had was with the salads. For some reason they just fell short of measuring up to Everything else we selected. Kudos to " Wellington's" Staff, Chef, and Management, for a well run, wonderful Restaurant. I hope they realize how fortunate they are to have " Heather, Emily and Alicia " on their team. All are Very Good at making the guest feel welcome, appreciated and satisfied. A +++++++ To anyone who has Not Yet treated themselves to a Dining Experience at " Wellington's " do yourselves a favor and try it soon. You will NOT be...
