El Huichol De Don Memo — Restaurant in Joliet

I always come to el Huichol to get a Seafood medley dish. On lazy days my husband and I always decide to get this dish because it’s delicious and we been getting it over 2 years. I want to say we’ve got this dish over 10 times and never had any problems. Yesterday was the first time I had a problem with how the dish came out usually it’s come with a good amount of seafood , but this time it almost looked like a soup! very little seafood and more water. I called the restaurant and a nice man answered the phone, I asked to speak to somebody in charge and he told me that there was nobody in charge there . I asked if I can get a refund because there was no way that this was going to feed my family as it always does. He said no, but said I can get a ceviche instead. (A little cup of ceviche wasn’t gonna do anything) I really just wanted the full amount of seafood medley I had ordered but had no luck. I asked the gentleman for the owners phone number or to have the owner call me back as soon as possible to get the problem resolved. They call me back 1 hour later and let me know that the way they served it to me today was correct and the past times were incorrect. ( so 10+ Wrong and this one time under no management, the order was correct) I still want to talk to the owner so I told the gentleman to have the owner call me I was really upset about the whole thing and still nobody called me. Three hours later I get a phone call saying I can take the food back and they would refund my money. By this time I had already served my husband the little sea food before he had to go to work and had to order other food for my kids because it wasn’t enough. Severe Illness Following Huauchinango Frito - Be Cautious

I recently visited El Huichol de Don Memo and ordered the Huauchinango frito (Red Snapper). Unfortunately, my experience following this meal was extremely negative and concerning.

Sometime after eating the fish, I became severely ill with symptoms including violent vomiting, diarrhea, and intense body aches that completely incapacitated me. It was a horrible experience that required significant recovery time.

Based on the timing and the nature of the symptoms, I strongly suspect that I suffered a severe case of food poisoning directly linked to the Huauchinango I consumed at this restaurant.

While I cannot be 100% certain without medical confirmation, the severity of my illness following this specific meal leads me to believe the food may have been contaminated. This experience was not just unpleasant; it felt dangerous.

Ordered the Caldo siete mares and they used imitation crab. All pictures of the soup on their menu & on doordash clearly show real crab legs. Not only is it false advertisement but the price of this item isn’t justified for what you receive. Most of the soup was veggies, couples shrimps, couple muscles, and a heaping amount of imitation crab. I wanted to throw up. I’m a content creator and was hoping to share this business on my viral platforms but after receiving this I was beyond disappointed. First time ever receiving imitation crab in siete mares. I get this soup every weekend and decided to try a new place- in the whole Chicagoland area- every single place I’ve been will include real crab legs.
