The food that we ordered was alright, & the servers initially seemed polite but our problem with this restaurant was a lack of communication leading to less than subpar service. My husband repeatedly told our server that he came here for spicy food & asked them to add the maximum level of spice to his order specifically. When they brought out the food it wasn’t to his liking but we didn’t complain because everyone’s spice tolerance is different & it’s difficult to gauge exactly what each individual likes. Without saying anything we just went about our meal. In a conversation amongst ourselves, my sister jokingly commented on how no food is ever spicy enough for my husband to which I said I should start carrying hot sauce in my purse from now on. The server overheard us & without asking us placed a bowl of chilies next to my husband without even mentioning that we’d be charged extra for the bowl of chilies no one asked for. Afterwards when they gave us the bill there was only the total amount charged but no breakdown of the prices so my husband politely asked for this which the server did not understand at all, she kept saying “this is the bill, please pay” after a long time she finally understood what we were asking for & provided the breakdown after which he realized that they’d charged us extra for the bowl of chilies we didn’t even ask for or touch, they were still on the table. We were annoyed but didn’t say anything. Since our experience wasn’t that great it reflected in their tip. We were then chased down & hassled, & the girl had no idea what my husband was trying to tell her. She just kept repeating “My boss will ask me” trying to intimidate us into paying more money. My husband very calmly explained to her about her tip & told her to detract her tip from the chilies they charged for without our permission & we walked out. I understand there is a language barrier & applaud these women for doing their best with the knowledge that they have. But at the end of the day we don’t appreciate being forced to pay more for something we didn’t even order than hassled about a larger tip amount later on. Clearly we won’t be back to this establishment again & a warning to people considering this restaurant is make sure that you explain exactly what you want multiple times or they’ll sneak stuff into the bill without your permission & then chase you down, not allowing you to leave when you decide they don’t deserve...
Read moreI'd love to record our memorable bittersweet experience at this place. We stopped here for dinner on our way to Chicago. Because Chicago was still miles away, we wanted it to be a quick stop. Never underestimate Murphy's laws - we ended with the exact opposite. The moment we entered, all tables were occupied except one. We assumed it might still be fine so we decided for the table service. Bad call. They were quick in serving water and taking our order but that's when the excruciating wait started. We ordered only main course. This place and their kitchen is not set up to handle the gargantuan volume of customers occupying all 8 tables!! After placing order, we waited and waited and waited. They decided to first serve only appetizers. We didn't realize this until we observed this pattern with the orders emerging from the kitchen. However, so naive of us that we still dreamed with yearning eyes that perhaps the next one coming out of the kitchen could be ours; just wait and perhaps the next set of plates might march towards our table. But no, the universe conspired against us. As we ogled plates after plates with waiters teasing us by darting towards us only to deflect at the end, our hopes vanished altogether. After spending one hour with no luck, now we faced the biggest dilemma - leave now for Chicago with empty growling stomachs or keep waiting just in case our luck shines. We decided to leave, the restaurant saw us leaving, and our stars changed. Then came out the grand genuine hospitality; the winged restaurant owner with a circular halo ensured the kitchen's only goal now will be to serve us. They did comply, we chomped maniacally. Do not remember and cannot assuredly say if the food was actually delicious or if our hunger and desperation distorted our buds. But we do remember that we left satiated with only smiles...
Read moreNot goord... I ordered buttered chicken thru Mr.Delivery. it showed up an hour late. The driver said that the restaurant didn't get the order, so he said they had to make it quick. I believe him because the food was hot when I got it. But that's not why I gave this one star...
When I opened up the bowl, I thought they messed up my order because what I got looked like tomato soup. There were about 20 small cubes of chicken below about 2 inches of "sauce" which was more like soup then sauce. Considering I paid twelve dollars (not including the increased delivery price, delivery fee, or tip which totaled $20) it feels like I got 2 dollars worth of chicken and a can of spicy tomato soup... I've bought organic chicken breasts at whole food for cheaper, and I didn't even get a whole breast worth of meat. I'd say there was about a half breast of meat in this.
Hate to say it, but this was super disappointing. I've had better Indian for cheaper in my hometown, and I'm sure I can find better Indian cuisine for cheaper here. Hopefully this isn't a regular thing for this store. But even if they responded and said it usually comes with more meat, I still wouldn't order this again. The menu advertises a rich creamy tomato based sauce. This sauce was anything but creamy. And I don't taste any butter, which is odd considering I ordered butter chicken.
Hopefully you don't experience this...
