We were so excited to see El Perico open! Very friendly, nice clean space, and delicious food!! I had the 3 tamale meal trying one of each. They were very good with a flavorful masa that wasn't dry. The pork is exceptional! Probably the single best tamale I've had. I also really liked the horchata, it wasn't too sweet and didn't have the gritty mix on the bottom like some places here do. My husband had the California burrito and a chorizo taco. He really enjoyed both and was excited to finally get to try a Cali burrito! On our second visit I got the tamales again but he tried the 3 taco meal with 1 shrimp, 1 fish, and 1 steak/chorizo mix. We were impressed with the size of these tacos!! Filled to the brim. Definitely worth the money. He loved them so much he couldn't pick a favorite! Looking forward to trying them for breakfast soon!

I ordered 3 tacos from here. One chorizo, one ground beef and one steak. The chorizo and ground beef are the only reason I didn't give it a 1 star. They were pretty good. The steak however was absolutely horrible. My first bite into the steak taco was a piece of bone. After discovering that and looking into the taco I found another piece of bone and realized the meat was old and hard. It had a freezer burn smell to it and was inedible. I can't believe a restaurant would purposely serve old meat like it wouldn't be recognizable.

I am part of a text thread, called “Walking Tacos”, where the members of the thread are from all over the US. We send each other pictures of tacos we have tried and rate them. I couldn’t wait to jump on this thread to let the group know that Taco El Perico’s tacos are some of THE BEST I’ve ever had. My wife and I tried five different tacos and the Barbacoa was my favorite but not by much because each one was delicious in its own right. Highly recommend this place!

I was looking for a good location for birria or quesabirra tacos and read that this newer location might be a good source. For the first time coming here, I ordered the birria plate that comes with 3 tacos and added a couple of gorditas (fried) to the order. Service was quick with chips and salsa since we were the only customers. The chips were of the thicker and more crunchier type, as opposed to light and crispy. The salsa was a bit strange. I wouldn't say it was bad tasting but more bland than anything. There was a slight aftertaste that I couldn't place. The birria tacos were brought out by themselves instead of bringing the entire order together forcing us to wait for the gorditas to be made and brought out. The birria tacos were placed in a double taco shell, one corn and one flour. While the birria had good overall flavor, the meat seemed to be overcooked. I wasn't a fan of the xarne asada that came in the gorditas. It was finely minced and overcooked to the point of being hard and tough to chew. It was clear that it was cut into such tiny pieces to cover up the toughness of the meat. Over all, I won't be going back and probably would...

I wanted to try El Pericos because there was a recent article about them on Mlive. I’m so glad I did. It’s a day later and I’m still thinking about their food.

The article mentioned the quesabirria as one of their most loved dishes, so I ordered that and a pineapple water to go. The cashier was incredibly pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant is very clean.

I wanted to check out the saints by the door also mentioned in the article because it said people were leaving offerings to them and I thought that was cool. The whole vibe of the place is extremely authentic, and it smells delicious when you walk through the door for the first time.

And the food….OMG. The Birria is so tender and flavorful and the consommé is out of this world. The green sauce is the best I’ve had in a long time. I got it to go and it was a little soggy when I got home, but I expected that. Didn’t matter. I’m trying to figure out if I can justify tacos for breakfast right now so I can go back and get more food. Can’t wait to take my tribe there and see what the dine-in experience is like. You have to...
