My wife suggested we try a new place for dinner. Walking in, the place was hopping. Lots of outside seating options but pretty crowded out there so we dined inside. No waiting and at dinner time on a Saturday which was a surprise. It's a pretty large place, plenty of available tables inside. I read numerous reviews complaining about the lack of service. And 1 friend who advised us the same before we visited. But that wasn't our experience. Service was fine. Seated promptly and greeted promptly. Server refilled our drinks promptly. Everyone was friendly enough. 'cept the dude who brought our food. But that was our only interaction with him, so didn't really bother me. No, the things that bugged me were minor. Like no condiments on any of the tables. None anywhere. It's a Mexican joint. No hot sauce? Not even salt and pepper? I had to ask for a salt shaker. And just sayin', nearly everything wanted salt in my opinion. Thought it was odd that the menu advised the first round of chips and salsa is gratis. Then they charge you for refills. That's pretty stingy. Don't see that very often. Then when we ordered, the waitress said, "Let me check if we're out of hamburger. I think we ran out earlier..." What? How do you run out of a main ingredient? I advised her to definitely check before we order - everything I had in mind had hamburger in it....... weird. No, they had hamburger. Whew. So I asked if I could have a beef taco on the side with my enchilada plate - a la carte. No, we don't offer a la carte options. What? How does one visit a new place to try new things without sampling a little bit of this and a little bit of that? Okay. I would stick to just the enchiladas. Again, weird and kind of chippy. But okay - just roll with it, right? Our food was okay. My wife had the taco salad with chicken and the chicken I tasted was super tender and flavorful. Better than I have had elsewhere. I didn't care for the enchilada sauce. Not like it's the worst I had ever tasted, just like comparing your Aunt Edna's potato salad to your Grandma's. They were fine. Maybe I would have like the tacos or empanadas better. But I'll never know, because no a la carte, you get what I'm saying? BUT! I have to rave about the street corn with my enchiladas. It's in my pics. Excellent! Perfectly seared on the grill, tender and tasty. And how unique! I've never seen this offered anyplace else. Home run! Prices were reasonable. Food was okay. Street corn was heaven. Chicken was really good. Don't know about the stuff I didn't get to try. May need to bring your own table salt and hot sauce. My wife advises better call ahead and make sure they have...

My girlfriend had a horrible day at work. She calls me upset because everything was going to rack and ruin at work. To top that off, her daughter is moving to Houston in two weeks, so needless to say, she is sad.
I knew the remedy: spicy (Tajin) margaritas and tacos; it always makes a bad day better! So I called Barrio and asked if I could make a reservation for my lady and her (soon to be) departing daughter.
They said sure! I responded with a special request: I’d like to pay their bill for the evening. Is there anyway we can accommodate this and I can pay with a credit card at the end of the night? The young lady said, "Sure!" I’ll bet we can! She checked with her manager, and he said yes!
I said I could give you my credit card now, if you like. He responded, Let me make some notes in the system, and what’s your phone number? I’ll call you at the end of the night, and you can pay then." I’m thinking, wow! They would trust that I would do that. Well, they did! So, they accommodated the special request.
I was told that Jen, the server, gave outstanding service; the food was amazing; the drinks were full; and the service made my laddies feel as special as they are to me!
I called around closing time to make sure I would make good and pay up the debt I owed them. I asked for Noah (the manager) to settle up.
He said, "Don’t worry about it; it’s all been taken care of. The staff thought it was amazing that you would go to such links to take care of the important people in your life, and we’d like to do our part—"It’s on us!"
Wow, it’s one of the coolest things that's ever happened to me!
I said, "I know you all are closing; don’t lock the doors; I’ll be there in 20 minutes. I can at least give you all a trip! I had $60 in cash on me and b-lined it to Briarcliff! I got there, gladly gave them the cash, and expressed my gratitude to Jen, Noah, the day manager, and everyone there who was phenomenal and kind. I gave her a hug, said "thank you," and went on my way.
What a classy thing to do, what customer service, and how exceptionally kind of the whole staff!
I highly recommend them. The service, the food, and the kindness
It just goes to show you that, in a degenerating world, there are still good people and businesses that will go the extra mile to make someone’s night special, including me! Thank you for your generosity! I wish you all many years of...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend did take out the 6/26, the food all a whole was really yummy so of course we ate it all but for it being slow at the time of pick up I feel like service could have been better. First on the phone, I’m assuming the hostess was the one that took my Togo order and either seemed like she was new or just didn’t know anything about the menu, but that’s okay I guess you’re just the hostess, but if your taking orders shouldn’t you know the menu as well? Then she tells us that it’ll be 15-20 mins, awesome! We take about 20 mins to get there and the place is gorgeous inside with beautiful outdoor seating! The host wasn’t at the stand and when I told her we were there for pick up she says it’ll be another 10 mins, i then tell her “if you want to help the people behind me and then I can pay out” so I can get my food and leave. She goes and does 10 other things which is again fine, that’s literally her job I get it but so weird that it was slow when I came in and the host is running food, why aren’t the servers getting their own food? These servers didn’t look friendly or welcoming at all either. The food comes up and she finally checks me out and price was really good for all the food we got. We go home, no silverware, no napkins, nothing, chips were stale, i was even missing my dipping sauce for my Birria tacos (which on the phone I asked her what it comes with and she said “rice, beans, and a dipping sauce” and I’ve had birria before so I knew it was missing???) again the food was great, amazing even, we ate it all. their limes were dry too, either meaning it was in the box for a while or they weren’t fresh, probably been cut for a few days. Idk I was just upset because me I would’ve never let those things slide and I still give them grace cause it was takeout, but takeout are still customers and they still deserve a good experience! Plus if takeout is good of course people want to come in an eat as well! Idk do better because being in the service industry too, I...
