Our server, was very nice. We got in before a late lunch rush came in. We ordered Red Snapper: advised only had 2.5lb we advised we were good with it. My husband & work hard (had some extra money this week). So we were good with splurge. •••The fish came out whole, it looked aweful. But my husband were willing to try it. That fish was so dry on the outside, there was no enjoying your meal. The yellow rice, had no favor, no seasoning. The vegetables (served cold) which they were suppose to be, like garnishment to put on top. The best thing on the plate the small (metal dish) with sauce that had garlic in it. ••I had a sprite to drink, the woman that came out & cleared the table behind us, stopped pointed to my sorinte, I thought her was referring to a refill (my glass was half full) she took my glass & never came back with it. Earlier, while waiting for our food, went to restroom, no paper towels. But at least it was clean. They only had one server, he had to do it all, serve tables, bartender. We were finally able to catch him & get another sprite. The server asked how everything was, we advised the fish was over cooked & dry. ••He offered to have the chef come out, I advised I don't want to talk to a Chef that allowed that (referring to the Fish) come out of their kitchen. Later on after the server brought the check, I advised, that I didn't feel the $20 a pound was good for this fish, due to most of it, a person couldn't eat. The server went back, and adjusted the check, were we paid for one pound. I thanked the server.

••••I recommend avoiding this place. The server needs ro find a new place...

I was very excited to try this place. I had never eaten here before. I came on a Sunday and it was closed. I finally wanted to try it on a Friday. I checked online and called, they said the restaurant CLOSES AT 10pm. I made my original reservation at 8:45pm but then run in a little mishap and called back to change my reserv for 9:15. The lady on the phone didn’t hesitate to let me know that the kitchen closes at 9:30pm... which to me sounds weird.. if the restaurant closes at 10, why would the kitchen close early... but anyways.. I told her we understand. She was very dismissive I’m taking the change on the reservation.

My party was of 4. My 2 friends arrived first, they again told them they had 8 minutes to order. I got there 2 minutes later. The lady at the front door starts yelling me. The same lady screaming at me, follows me to the table and she starts saying that we have to order right then.... I’m like... can you give me a second? ... I literally am settling just now (now even sat ... this is like 9:22pm).. I tell her that multiple people had told us about the whole “kitchen closing at 10:30pm” And she is like “well, it should be NO SURPRISE THEN” I am like “good evening first of all”... with this wAy of treating me, I don’t even want to eat here... she’s like “you’re more than welcome to leave” and of course we left. We left and it was not even 9:30pm. SERIOUSLY ! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! WHY WOULD THEY SAY THEY CLOSE AT 10 WHEN THEY WANNA BE DONE BY...

I have gone to Jarocho about 10 times. I was always happy and very satisfied with the food. I decided to go on Mother's day for the Brunch. My husband and I were very disappointed. The service was horrible. When we walked in were were asked if we wanted the menu or the buffet. We opted for the buffet. The buffet had salads, mexican street corn, beans and rice and some type of pork cooked in eggs. We were told the oysters were unlimited. There wasnt anything that stood out to me on the buffet and asked for a menu. We were then told, we could only have the buffet today. Seeing other dishes on peoples' tables i asked about the shrimp and other dishes, I was told they were prepared by the chef and i would have to ask him. We ordered 2 lobsters, and got 1, we had 1 platter of 12 oysters. We ordered more but never got them, We had 3 margaritas, 1 lobster tail, steamed, 1 platter of oysters (12) 3 pieces of corn, salad, rice and beans for $100.55 ticket. I was so disappointed and felt certain people get certain priviledges at this place. Once when my husband and I went in a man and his wife came in with a rolling cooler, set at the table took out 2 wines glasses and a large bottle of wine, placed it on the table and poured each of them a glass. This with the waitress standing there taking their order. Regardless of how much I love their food, that is my last time there. I will seek out...

Foodies take note: Jarocho in KCK is one of those magical spots that serve outstanding cuisine in modest surroundings. The look and feel of the place are very much in keeping with Kansas Avenue. I found the murals on the outside charming, and the interior is an interesting blend of beachfront cantina with just a hint of upscale art gallery. But oh the food. I had the scallops and Spanish rice. The scallops were cooked to perfection, which requires an expert hand to hit that perfect sweet spot between rubbery undercooked and chewy overcooked. And the rice was worlds away from the orange stuff served by many other places. It featured a delicious blend of meat, vegetables and seasoning. Honestly it could have been a meal all by itself. If I hadn’t been driving, I would definitely have sampled the drink menu. All of it looked tempting, especially the cocktail on the specials list. Though this review is based on my first visit, I will definitely be coming back.

They were pretty busy when we came in for a Friday night dinner, but the server was gracious enough to seat us (party of 4) without a reservation. The restaurant centers around families and has a nice ambiance. It's all about seafood, so there are no options for a vegetarian or non-seafood eater. There were only a handful of choices with fish and no shellfish. We started off with fresh oysters, grilled stuffed oysters, and ceviche tostadas. We also ordered the fish filet, Veracruz fish filet, langostinos special, and fries. The portions were quite large, and we were all very full by the time we left. You get your choice of flour or corn tortillas with the fish filet meals, and they also come with a scoop of rice and salad. The Veracruz fish filet was decent, though I wasn't able to finish all the toppings. This place definitely specializes in shellfish, so I would only recommend coming here if you like oysters and crustaceans!

I thought this place wasn’t even opened! I looked it up and saw that Oysters were $1.50 on Thursdays—we were excited! We arrive and the waiter had said it would be a 45min wait which was okay for us. We stood there for a few minutes for him to seat us and he kinda ignored us. We literally had to tell him if we could sit. We sat there for a while and took our drink order. The coke was flat😒 and our waters were brought towards the end of the meal. And the oysters…he said they were out (had given the last ones to the table that came after us) HOWEVER, they were other oysters available—the grilled ones. Service 👎🏼 the food is way overpriced. $29 for the plate pictured below. The campechana had way too much onions. This was not a good experience for us and will not be returning.
