ONE OF MY COWORKERS WENT ON ABOUT THIS GHETTO FABULOUS SPOT, SO I DECIDED TO CHECK IT OUT WITH MY HANDICAPPED MOTHER OF ALL PEOPLE!!! I LOOKED UP THE PLACE & THE PICTURES LOOKED REALLY APPETIZING, I AM VERY MUCH A "FOODIE" BUT THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE IS IMPORTANT FOR A TRULY SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS & THIS PLACE DEFINITELY DROPPED THE BALL BIG TIME & I CERTAINLY WILL BE LETTING MY COWORKER/COWORKERS & EVERY & ANYONE I CAN KNOW IT!.. WE MADE IT TO THE DOOR WHERE THE LITTLE HANDWRITTEN BOARD THAT ASKED "WAIT TO BE SEATED WAS!" A GUY BEHIND THE BAR SOMEWHAT GREETED US, NOT FRIENDLY & WELCOMING @ ALL! WE ASKED FOR A BOOTH PLEASE & HE SAID WE ONLY HAVE THE TWO BIG BOOTHS OF WHICH ONE WAS AVAILABLE, HE THEN POINTED @ TWO OTHER TABLES SO I ASKED MY HANDICAPPED MOTHER WITH A CANE, WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO? OF COURSE WE'RE NOT DESPERATE & DEFINITELY DIDN'T WANT TO PATRONIZE OR CONTRIBUTE ONE RED CENT TO THE VERY RUDE TREATMENT IN THE VERY TINY ESTABLISHMENT SO WE WENT TO NIECE'S OFF OF MEYER & TROOST! TURNS OUT THIS IS REALLY TRULY DOWN HOME SOULFUL SOUL FOOD PROFESSIONAL RESTAURANT THAT KNOWS HOW TO TREAT PAYING CUSTOMERS ON A 1ST COME 1ST SERVED BASIS! PLUS, OUT OF THE BITTER CAME THE SWEET, WE ENDED UP HAVING A GRAND TIME WITH A BETTER/WIDER SELECTION OF SOUL FOOD!!! WE SPENT LIKE $60.00 NOT INCLUDING TIPS... IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A REALLY GREAT DOWN HOME EXPERIENCE/TREATMENT AS A VALUABLE PAYING CUSTOMER, "PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS HOODISH PLACE & DO GO TO NIECE'S & THE CHICKEN WINGS WERE SO HOT, FRESH & DELICIOUS.... TRULY!!!" FYI, we had THE WING DINNER, MASHED POTATOES WITH A MOUTH WATERING GRAVY, CABBAGE & DOWN HOME STYLE CHITTLINS WITH HOMEMADE YEAST ROLLS!...
Read moreHow did it take me this long to go here?! We went for breakfast and were thoroughly impressed with the food and the people working there. Really nice people and these guys know how to cook! We often complain that Waldo doesn't have any diners, just brunch places. Now we have a go-to place for breakfast. :) Eggs cooked perfectly, great pancake with crispy edges, perfect biscuits, sausage gravy is peppery and tasty and what is a classic breakfast without a chicken wing on the side? :D They are pretty close to a Peanut wing (this is high praise! - whole wing breaded, fried, then dipped) and you can get buffalo, bbq or no sauce. Their buffalo sauce is what I had and it is fantastic. Nice and tangy, good amount of heat. My eggs always get a healthy dump of hot sauce, so a nice messy chicken wing is great on a breakfast plate in my opinion. They will also let you sub bacon for the wing if that isn't your cup of tea. :) They also do chicken and waffles, which is what I'll get next time we go, which I hope is soon. :) We have seen about four different owners/restaurants in this building over the years and this one is cranking out by far the best food. Let's make sure they...
Read moreTwo years ago my girlfriend made a journey to kansas city and could not stop raving about Game Day. My initial thoughts were "it couldn't be THAT good". Fast forward to today and I have finally made it all the way from DC to try the famed location. The first appearance made me judge a little but where I'm from that's a key indicator that the food would be amazing. As I sat and waited to be seated I started to see other people's plates and I immediately started to drool. From thick pieces of french toast to fried fish I couldn't wait to be seated. I ordered the special that day which was fried catfish with eggs, home fries and a biscuit with coffee. I took my first bite and a little tear dropped from eye and immediately was a believer. My girlfriend got the jumbo wings and they were seasoned and fried to perfection. If you are feeling some type of way like the other low ratings (that I read) don't be turned off by the appearance, or the "sign by the door" telling you to seat yourself. It's no lack of service, it's the fact that the staff are putting in time and effort to your food and your experience just as...
