No menu offered- The waitress didn't even give us a menu, then looked at us sideways when we asked for one- attitude. We've been there before, but she barely gave us any time to look at the menu before asking us what we wanted. The waitress didn't seem to mind giving any other customers a menu...
Disgusting Sweet and sour chicken- you can't get more basic than that. It was a new take on it, I can say that. They clearly use store bought sauce, and just let the pineapple and carrots stew in the sauce all day, or however many days it sat. And the chicken was like Chick-Fila nuggets. Gross!
Overcharged bill by almost $8!- I get that inflation has hit everyone hard, but why over bill your customers, esp the regulars? Red flag on the play. No excuse, the waitress has been working there for YEARS and clearly knew what she was doing. My poor elderly father was too nice to speak up and just paid.
No receipt- again, more attitude when we asked for a receipt, and she never brought it. We had to ask the host as we left. Seriously, can it get any worse? Madam waitress: it's time to retire from waiting tables since you clearly hate doing it.
Princess Garden: Do better. I am utterly disgusted by that waitress's behavior. Zero stars for service. Shame on you for allowing this poor quality of service, food and behavior. To all: look at your check...
Read moreWhat a gem 🥰 I tried 4 (!) different preparations of duck last night at Princess Gardens on 89th & Wornall (near absolutely nothing else), and we had a excellent dinner.
The Peking Duck is their crowning glory and it was delicious. Sam carves up duck like he does it 50x/week because he does! Sue led us to this dish, insisting we would miss out on the true possibilities of duck without it and she was right. Housemade Mandarin pancakes and plum sauce paired with cracklin duck skin put it over the edge.
The crispy orange duck might have been tied for my favorite though! Fried duck bites (like really savory fried chicken - think confit then fried), tossed with veggies and an awesome spiced orange sauce. I'd go back just for this.
We also tried spiced duck and roast duck. All kinds of veggies tossed in, but we wanted to try the spiced green beans too.
Oh and because we were very hungry when we sat down, we got 2 orders of crab rangoon (for 7 of us) and DEMOLISHED them. So creamy and satisfying.
The food was great. The decor is charming (if showing a little wear). But the staff made the experience. We had attentive and hilarious service and I hope to go back again to try other dishes from their...
Read moreWhen I first walked in I was greeted by Sam, who was very polite and nice. He seemed to know everyone on a first name basis that came in. I have been looking for a new place to get Chinese food and it looked like I had made a wise decision. Well that was until I got my food. The general tso chicken was made with A LOT of bell peppers. I took it back and asked for one without the bell peppers in it and they obliged only to give me back the same box I gave them minus the bell peppers. It still was overwhelming in the flavor of the peppers and the chicken itself had bones in it. Was not good at all! The crab rangoon was very bland and had no flavor. The pork egg roll I received had no pork in it. The Lo Mein dinner for my girlfriend was like the poured a can of Campbell chicken noodle soup over it and she said did not taste very good and she can attest to that as she became very ill later on and was in misery from food poisoning. If the food was half as good as the atmosphere, I'd call this a no brainer, but if it's poorly prepared and served Chinese food you seek, then this is your place to go...
