My husband and I ate here last night and honestly did not understand what all the fuss is about. The menu was so very basic they don't have specific menu items per se they will tell you that they have burritos that's it and just list a bunch of different meats they do not tell you what they put in them, That's a surprise. Basically they have tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. No fajitas no enchiladas.. nada. The street tacos were just OK. There was nothing extraordinary about them and honestly the carne asada was kind of greasy. The salsa they brought to the table (you have to ask for chips and salsa) was so ridiculously hot, not spicy - just HOT, even my Mexican husband was struggling trying to cool his mouth down. I mean it was pointlessly hot to where that's all you could taste. I don't get it. We ordered and asked if both dinners came with rice and beans and was told yes. Two minutes later they bring one paper plate of rice and beans separately to the table, not with the dinners. (They only have paper plates and plastic utensils.) Also, If you do not speak Spanish you might have a little trouble with the menu and ordering here. I speak some Spanish but our waitress ended up having to find someone else to help us. They also will not bring you your check. They don't tell you you need to go to the kitchen to pay. We had to figure that out ourselves. Despite the neighborhood the restaurant is actually pretty decent but thats it. We should have just gone to...
Read moreI would eat here again but my friend's didn't much care for it. The ingredients felt authentic and fresh, I had a cow tongue sandwich which is not a common item you can find in any Mexican restaurant. I appreciate that. They had a suite of drinks, a bit large for me, and their horchata was spiceless it felt more like a big vanilla bean shake but it was tasty. They had authentic candies to buy, your mileage may vary. Here's the thing though, the food didn't have much taste. There was no pop, no seasoning, no nothing. It felt like I was eating a very fresh, fully cooked, sandwich which was just the ingredients involved - a meat, some bread, avocado etc. No salt or pepper or paprika or anything. MAYBE we were supposed to season with the spicy salsa in the middle of the table or maybe that bland, simple ingredient take was the goal but it turned my friends of. Personally, I would be happy with a place like this. Local family, not a chain, good ingredients (seemingly, no sourcing information was given), with an authentic feel to the place. They didn't serve chips, there was a Spanish soap opera on the tellies, and the place was near empty but had almost three whole rooms available so I imagine they get packed. I'd...
Read moreThe food here is delicious, and the place was packed because everyone seems to know that, too. We got some asada tacos, chorizo nachos, and an asada quesadilla. They gave us grilled onions on the side, and a bag full of cucumber and lime slices.
The nachos were LOADED, and the quesadilla was way bigger than it appears in my photo. I could barely finish it, and that was after I let other people take a few bites to try it.
My husband forgot to order my tacos without cilantro (yes, I’m one of those people who thinks it tastes like soap), but I still tried a bite and it was delicious other than the cilantro. That’s not the restaurant’s fault. I’m merely mentioning it because even though it had an ingredient I don’t enjoy, I can still tell that it was really flavorful and delicious.
Photos don’t do it justice! It’s real good, great prices. We live in the neighborhood and are happy to discover that amazing tacos are just...
