Frutopia Paleteria & Ice cream — Restaurant in Kansas City

I love going here for a treat with friends but they aren't very nice towards homeless people. A homeless man came in looking hungry and I asked him if he wanted me to buy him something. He said he wanted a strawberry and vanilla milkshake, so I was like sure why not. I ordered it and told them I wanted ONE milkshake with both vanilla and strawberry ice cream in it, fast forward to when the lady was making it, I saw that she was making TWO milkshakes, one vanilla and one strawberry, I told her that it was just one, with vanilla and strawberry ice cream. And she got a bit mad. The saddest thing is that she dumped most of the vanilla milkshake into the sink. Completely wasting most of it. Anyways when I was going to pay for the milkshake the cashier told me that we shouldn't have bought the man anything and that he comes in here being very violent, basically trying to discourage me. I thought to myself 'well maybe he was hungry but since you guys are acting like this he got angry'. This place is nice but maybe be nicer to homeless people, they are human beings too, and if they do something to you then yea kick them out but if they aren't doing anything, why be...

I usually don't write bad reviews but the customer service here made me feel some type of way. If I had paid attention I probably would have took my money somewhere else. The young lady that took our order didn't even seem interested in what I was saying or could care less about my order. Her body language and whole demeanor gave me a I don't want to be here vibe. I had younger kids with me at the time so I had to go back up and ask for a few items the lady made it seem like I was annoying her asking for extra forks or bottled water. I didn't realize that the teleprompters only had a small list of items that you could order and that there was another list towards the back of the store. I asked the lady if she would suggest as far as something good to eat her reply back was I don't know what you want .. Great job of selling the store smh... This was our first time here and will most definitely be our last time!! 5 out of 10 do...

Excellent! Pleasant-ish staff (need to smile more though), willing to describe the ice cream flavors (need labels) and a fairly well-lighted, open space to enjoy your treats.

Willing to give samples and since they had some unusual flavors (avocado, corn, one I've forgotten) it was appreciated; the avocado was really good.

Got my semi-usual ronpope (eggnog with raisins) & it was delicious. Not crystalized or gooey like it gets when it's old or thaws & refreezes.

Looking forward to trying an elote or the chilaquiles upon my return, which will be soon.

I'd like to give 4.5 but can't do 5 until it's tightened up a bit. Didn't like seeing the freezers off to one side & the entrance is confusing. Get the staff to smile & at least ACT like they're happy to...
