on multiple occasions my order has been messed up. I ordered the grilled chicken entree and received one piece of chicken when the menu stated 2. the waitress argued with me until she brought back a menu and realized she was wrong. they offered to cook me another piece of chicken I declined because I had already waited over 30 minutes for someone to come back to my table. in that time I did not have a drink refill. I did receive a gift certificate and utilized it a few weeks later. however, when we went tonight I ordered the grilled chicken entree with no side but a bowl of the loaded potato soup. when I got my food I had smothered chicken and my soup had no sour cream, no green onions and I had no spoon. she went and got some sour cream and they put about five green onion slices on the top of my soup so I asked for more.... I waited on the waitress to come back and she apologized for her mistake. but she clearly wrote down grilled chicken and not smothered chicken, so that was a kitchen mistake. she asked if I wanted them to re-cook the chicken and I declined her offer because I had lost my appetite pretty much at that time, still waiting on my spoon. my son ordered Mac and cheese as his side and it was not tasty at all. so he swapped for fries. they did take my chicken entree off my order and I did speak to the manager... who happened to be the bartender and she is also the waitress that argued with me over the chicken breast, not the manager I spoke with on a previous occasion. it seems like everyone was worried about what was on the TV above the bar and talking with each other instead of tending to patrons. I do feel bad for the waitress as she was new and the back of kitchen is really slacking and that falls on her! I have had good service there a few times when ordering the loaded fries or quesadillas, which was good. but with the service that I received today on top of other occasions is enough for me to not...
Read moreWe visited this establishment with a group of 10 people on Saturday May 11. This was my first visit to Thunderbirds, and also my last. I have not been this disappointed in years. Our group arrived an hour and 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. However we waited 15-20 minutes for someone to even come take our drink orders. This was after watching three servers look at us and watch us wait. One of whom had a disgusting attitude toward our entire party. We finally had our drink order taken and then our waitress seemingly just gave up on helping us. We had to retrieve our own drinks from the bar. Which had been sitting there at least 15 minutes. While our waitress is busy scrolling on her phone or on the computer. A gentleman named Travis is the only reason we didn’t get up and walk out. This man took our food order, cooked our food, and took drink orders. The food (to no fault of Travis) was mediocre at best. Three of us ordered the French dip. I maybe ate half because I was starving. It was literally chopped up hamburger with cheese on it. And the aujus was watered down and so salty it wasn’t even worth having on the plate. The cheese fries were the best thing we had out of all our meals.
The real kicker was watching another party come in 15 mins before the kitchen closed. And they had their drinks and food on their table within 15-20 mins total. By the same server who did nothing but roll her eyes and stare at our group.
We try very hard to support our locally owned businesses here. I even visited their sister business Vikings up north on Wednesday. Owned by the same people. Same menu and drinks. The difference in service was staggering.
I wish I had more positives from this experience. But the staff and the service definitely out this on the list of places I won’t recommend or return to.
And to Travis… you deserve a raise and a promotion because you’re the only reason they made any profit from...
Read moreWhat a weird experience we had there. Upon arrival, we noticed the smell in the air was not of delicious food, but of dirty dishrag. We decided they'd just opened an hour before and to give it a chance. Our waitress was super sweet, but came to our table approx 20 mins after ordering to take half of our order again, because only part of the order had submitted to the kitchen correctly due to running out of printer paper. No big deal, we didn't have anywhere to be, but she insisted she'd be giving us a discount, which seemed far too generous for a delay. We did finally receive all of our food approx 1 hour after ordering with cold fries, wrong burger, and steak cooked incorrectly. When we asked only about the burger, she got super flustered and said she was comping the whole meal. We assured her she could just bring us the right burger and we'd be happy to pay for it, but again she was insistent. We ended up paying for a drink so we could leave her a generous tip.. but the insistence of her to give food away, the over the top apologizing, and the repeated discounts leads me to believe this is common practice in this restaurant.
We found the restaurant only because I had googled restaurants with sweet potato fries, which they did have, but the entire experience was just strange. Lastly, there are two stalls in the women's room, one of which doesn't have a latch to catch, so the door swings freely in and out. I made a joke about it to the person in there with me, who said it had been that way for "years."
I don't believe this is a facility that takes pride in facilities or food production. Our saving grace was our adorable waitress. We were pleasant and reasonable, and she was just too sweet. We didn't complain or call a manager over or even report cold fries and steak cooked incorrectly, and still ended up with a free meal. Just a bizarre experience, and we...
