A True Taste of Hyderabad at Green Bawarchi
Last weekend, my culinary journey took me to the vibrant and aromatic world of Hyderabadi cuisine at Green Bawarchi. Nestled between Katy and Houston, this delightful eatery offered an authentic dining experience that was both memorable and palatable.
Ambiance and Service: Upon arrival, we were greeted with the most welcoming of smiles from the owner, setting the tone for the exceptional service that followed. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between casual comfort and traditional charm, inviting us to relax and indulge in the flavors that were about to grace our table.
The Culinary Expedition: The feast began with a classic starter - Chicken 65. Each bite was a blend of tangy and spicy flavors, indicating that it was freshly prepared. Following this was the Chicken Khorma, a dish that was rich, creamy, and had the perfect amount of spice. The meat was succulent and fell right off the bone, a testament to the chef's attention to detail.
The star of the show was the Goat Biryani. The rice was cooked to perfection, each grain separate and infused with spices that are synonymous with Hyderabadi cuisine. The goat was tender and flavorful, melding harmoniously with the aromatic rice.
As a testament to the kitchen's mastery, the naan bread was a revelation in itself. Fresh out of the oven, soft, and embodying the very essence of comfort food, it complemented the gravies beautifully.
Dessert – A Sweet Epilogue: To wrap up the meal, we savored the traditional Hyderabadi Qubani ka Meetha. This dessert, crafted with dried apricots and a generous sprinkling of nuts, was the perfect ending to our meal - rich, sweet, and indulgent. It was a celebration of heritage in every spoonful.
Continuing from where we left off, I cannot end my review without mentioning the perfectly brewed Irani tea. It was the quintessential end to our rich meal. With its proportionate combination of sugar, milk, and tea, it provided a soothing balance to the robust flavors we'd just experienced. Each sip was a warm hug to the soul, reflective of the Irani cafes of Hyderabad.
But there's more! For dessert enthusiasts looking for something refreshingly different, the restaurant offers a dedicated Paan counter where fresh paan is skillfully prepared. This traditional mouth-freshener, wrapped in betel leaves with a variety of fillings and flavors, was customized to our taste and provided a delightful, aromatic finish to a remarkable dining experience.
Verdict: Green Bawarchi is a gem that offers an authentic Hyderabadi dining experience. From its freshly prepared food to the warm hospitality, it captures the essence of traditional flavors with every dish served. For anyone looking to embark on a true Hyderabadi culinary adventure, this restaurant is a must-visit. My taste buds are still relishing the memory, and I will definitely return to explore more of their delicious offerings.
There is ample car parking available right in front of the restaurant, making the arrival and departure process as seamless as possible. This thoughtful touch ensures that your dining experience begins with ease and ends with a swift return to the comforts of your own vehicle without any...
Read moreI have encountered a remarkable degree of unprofessionalism from Green Bawarchi, a level that is unprecedented in my life. On two separate occasions, I have placed take-out orders with this restaurant, only to find my requests unfulfilled.
Allow me to recount the initial incident which occured in September of last year. I contacted Green Bawarchi to place an order for 15 buttered naan, specifying the time of pickup. I provided my name and contact details. Regrettably, upon arriving at the restaurant with my husband to collect our order, we were informed that it had been mistakenly given to another customer. Supposedly, an individual with an identical name claimed our order. Despite our disappointment, we gave them the benefit of doubt, and courteously requested a prepare our order again. Even though we had to wait about 20-30 minutes for them to prepare it.
Fast forwarding to April 5th, 2024, I initiated contact with the restaurant at 5:40 PM, placing an order for 30 buttered naan for pickup at 7:00 PM. Once again, I diligently provided my contact information. Subsequently, when my husband arrived for the scheduled pickup, he was informed that our order had not been prepared and would be prepared at that moment, with an estimated hour-long wait time. We had prior commitment to a potluck event, the delay was unacceptable. Consequently, my husband rightfully opted to cancel the order. Following this disappointing situation, I personally contacted Green Bawarchi to speak with the individual who initially took my order. During this conversation, I asked for clarification regarding the status of my order. However, to my dismay, the staff member provided misleading information, falsely stating that a portion of our order had been prepared and later on cancelled by my husband. The lady on the phone then stated that they went ahead and distributed our “prepared” naan to other customers. That claim was quickly debunked, as I was already seated in the car and could verify that no such transaction had occurred. I then confronted the lady with the inconsistency, and she reluctantly acknowledged the lie and offered the option to wait an additional hour for an order that had been placed almost two...
Read moreI was a regular customer at their grocery ( Mirch namak) so I thought I would try their restaurant. They failed me terribly. Their vegetarian options aren’t great. They have the same filling for samosa, curry puff and bonda. ( not authentic ) The filling isn’t so great as well, it was pretty sour(spoilt ) and soggy. They dint taste fresh. Usually the Veggie puffs have onion, Chana, and mixed veggie filling. Never ever have seen it having potato (samosa) filling that was tampered with rai and channa dal. And I couldn’t take more than one bite into their puff. Got three and everything went straight into the bin. Their irani chai is good according to my husband. The owners were really sweet and welcoming but that doesn’t make up for the bad taste. I hope they would improve on their vegetarian options. And serve decent food with half the originality. Please check if the food is good before serving it to...
