Easily the worst doughnut place in Texas, and my worst restaurant experience in years.
I've eaten at Tim Hortons in the northern U.S. and Canada so I was excited to see one open up in Katy. It hasn't been open long but I figured at least having a few days under their belt and going early in the morning would keep the lines shorter, which worked.
I attempted to use the drive through. The way it's designed, if you go through the inner lane you go to a window. If you go to the outer lane, there's no indication to merge so you just sit there waiting for someone to see why you're parked there waiting for your order. Fortunately, this didn't happen to me, but a guy had to run in and out of the store helping people in that lane. Since I used the inner lane, I had to tell the woman at the drive through what I asked for two extra times, and she handed me what she thought was my order.
I had asked for an assorted dozen, and they gave me seven doughnuts, some of which were not what I had asked for. So I had to go into the store to get that fixed. There was only one overwhelmed cashier while most of the staff were standing around arguing with each other. Eventually when I got to the cashier after a long line had built up, she turned it over to a very angry woman that was helping her. At first the other woman refused to admit that the order was wrong, but the cashier helpfully insisted for her to look at my receipt and compare it to the box. The angry lady relented then went to the back to finish out my dozen. Of course, she got it completely wrong again, but at least I had a dozen doughnuts even if they were completely wrong. Also I had ordered a box of mixed timbits but they only gave me the ones with sprinkles because I assume they were the oldest.
Overall the quality of the food was worse than day-old discount grocery store doughnuts. They were dry, the glaze was clearly old and returning to a liquid form before being absorbed into the bread, and everything was sloppily thrown together and the box was sticky and messy. This theme went into the store as well, because the floors were sticky to walk on and water was dripping from the ceiling in front of the cash register.
If I could, this place would get 0 out of 5 stars, and I hate that this place is representing what is a pretty good doughnut and coffee...
Read moreI visited Tim Hortons for the second time in two weeks, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The first time I visited, my order was mishandled â I received a medium coffee instead of the large one I had ordered. I'm typically not one to complain, and I'm always appreciative of the service provided. However, when I politely requested the correct size, I couldn't help but notice some concerning behavior from the staff.
While asking for the correction, it appeared that the workers started congregating and chatting amongst themselves, which left me with the impression that they might have been discussing the situation or even ridiculing me or their coworkers. Regardless of the topic of conversation, it felt inappropriate and unprofessional, especially in a customer service setting.
In addition to this, I appreciated their offer of whipped cream, but I must admit that the appearance of the whipped cream was less than appetizing â it looked coagulated and unappealing. Still, I maintained a positive attitude and thanked them without any hint of frustration.
Despite the less-than-ideal first visit, I decided to give them another chance two weeks later. This time, I placed my order using the Tim Hortons app. When I arrived at the location and was attempting to pull up my app for payment, I couldn't help but notice that the staff was engaging in conversations in languages such as Farsi, Arabic, and Spanish, even while making eye contact and appearing to roll their eyes in my direction. This behavior was more concerning as it felt as though they may have been talking about me or, in the very least, not conducting themselves professionally in the presence of a customer.
Once again, the whipped cream appeared unsatisfactory, resembling melted candles. I couldn't help but feel disappointed, and I shared my thoughts with my kids, concluding that it might not be worth returning to this particular branch, despite my liking for Tim Hortons' drip coffee. The behavior of the staff, who appeared to be young or perhaps just immature, left a lasting impression that detracted from the overall experience.
I believe that customer service should always be respectful and considerate, and I hope that the staff at this Tim Hortons location can work on improving their professionalism and interactions with customers...
Read moreTIm Hortons "Always Delicious"... Far from my first time experience. I've heard lots of great things from people I know that frequent this place up north, so I made the time to pass on by the Katy location on Clay Rd and 99 this morning to try it out.
I picked up the English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich w/ Sausage, Egg and Cheese, a Hash Brown and Hot Vanilla Latte.
First up was the hash brown. It was so nice and golden brown, I felt like I was going to be in for a treat, but on first bite, I was surprised by a trick instead. I picked this up in the morning around 8am and it felt like it was left under the warmer overnight. The border was very crunchy and dried out while the center was just dried out. And I'm not talking about a very nicely fried crunch, this was a stale, old, devoid of any moisture crunch.
After this total misfire, I then pulled the breakfast sandwich out of the bag. First initial though while doing so and while it was still wrapped is, why does my thumb feel like it's pulling out a chilled can of soda? Well, this is because the bread, while very dense and lacking any "nooks and nannys", in their "fresh baked bread", was ice cold through the bottom piece of bread. As I ate it, I expected the Sausage to be frozen through, but it was ok, and the cheese was of course not melting. Paired with the dense and just shy of frozen bread, it was a very lack luster experience.
So, the food on my initial go was a gross and embarrassing mess. Either they have no quality control or they just didn't care. Of course I'm sure it was just an isolated incident, but because this was my first trip and it started my day, I'm very disappointed to say the least. And to note, I tried the food in the parking lot while still "fresh"...
Only saving grace was the coffee. I saved it for when I got to work and I'm glad I did. Was able to wash down the shame that was a haphazardly prepared breakfast sandwich and hash brown.
If I ever try their food again, I'll look at updating...
