Aloha Roastery — Restaurant in Kauai

Went in to get a coffee and there was two people working behind the counter and we did not get a hello or welcome in. We decided on what to get and walked up to the counter to order. The girl at the counter did not say hello or anything to us so we said hello and told her our order. We waited for the coffee in the very bare and minimally decorated space that does not provide much if any atmosphere. When our coffee was ready, one of the girls called out the mocha and when we asked if it was ours she nodded to us instead of saying anything. The coffee was good but the overall atmosphere and experience was not enjoyable at all.

The next day we went to RainbowJo’s right down the street and had the complete opposite experience. It is a vibrant and colorfully decorated space and you are immediately met with the owner greeting you. He takes the time to give you a rundown of the entire menu. The organic coffee was delicious and they had great pastries too. We sat inside on the sofas and looked at all the plants and decorations inside. The owner says goodbye to every person who walks out even if he is interrupting the person ordering their coffee. They even have a hula hoop station out back so you can get your hula on. It completely redeemed our coffee experience in Kauai and was the most fun coffee shop...

Vibes are impeccable. Coffee is high quality. I think I may have had a newer worker serving me, but when I asked what beans they had for pour overs, she didn't know what I was talking about. I then asked if they had drip coffee, and she said they certainly had that. She then proceeded to ring me up for a pour over. I decided that was fine, seeing as they visibly did not have drip coffee in the shop. This person also was the one to make the pour over, and did so without the use of a scale or timer. The coffee it produced was fine, but not great, and I think worse for the lack of precision in the timing. They also lost my wife's drink, making drinks for five or six other people who ordered after us before we realized ours was not coming out. I want to frame this around the fact that the beans, which I think are roasted in house, are great, but there is room for improvement on the service and...

First time visiting this establishment and I enjoyed my experience. The staff are welcoming and kind. I decided to break my no coffee kick and try the Cold Brew Float (made with staff crafted ice cream) from their new items menu...... and I was not disappointed... We were there around 8:30am and staff mentioned that had sold out of their other baked goods. I also ordered the Triple berry smoothie and several pastries... In the pastry box: 2 - Blueberry muffins 2 - Bacon Cheddar Scones 2 - Buttery Croissants
