We decided to try this place given the great reviews on Google. Maybe I’m not familiar with the prices on Kauai as much, but given my many experiences in Oahu / Maui, this place is really overpriced for what you get. The food itself tasted fine so my lower rating is mostly based on the portion vs price. We ordered the Monster Donburi (basically 10-12 pieces of sashimi, nothing special), Monster Poke, My Hero Roll, and a Pad See Ew and Mango Sticky Rice (given the owners are Thai so we wanted to give it a try). When they served the Monster Poke and the Pad See Ew, at first I thought it was a joke how little the portion was. It was like 1/2 a normal dish. I immediately felt ripped off. The final kicker was they charged us $1.50 for some extra spicy mayo for the roll we ordered. The waitress didn’t mention it was an extra charge for it. We just saw it on the bill at the end. Looking at the other tables, they mostly ordered classic rolls, gyoza, etc. so maybe thats the key to this place since rolls are only $11-$12. Those who know me know I’m all for spending $$$$ on food, but it never feels great when you feel like you’re getting ripped off on the portions. We had to pick up other food after we left since the kids were...
Read moreWe chose this place on a whim based on location alone as we were on the south side of the island heading over to Poipu Beach afterwards.
We didn't realize it at the time but we went almost a day between this meal and last night's dinner. Needless to say we ordered a lot but we have absolutely no regrets!
We started off with the Pork Lumpia. It was good and just reminded me of some good old fashioned homemade lumpia. My boyfriend ordered the Monster Donburi and the Crispy Ono Curry. I was only going to order the Crazy Scallop Roll but decided to order the Crispy Garlic Chicken as well and just eat the leftovers later.
Once the food came out, that's when we realized we were ravenous. The food was also spectacular so after a few bites of each thing, I looked at my boyfriend and said "I'm probably going to eat everything I ordered. Please don't judge me."
Of course I was in good company as he ate all his food too. Everything was SO good. We will definitely be back before we...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant around 8:40 PM with a group of six in two cars. Three of us entered first, and the manager asked how many were in our party. When I said six, he responded that they were closed. This left me confused and upset. If the restaurant was closed, why didn’t they inform us upon entry? If they don’t accept customers after 8:30 PM, it should be clearly noted in their operating hours. After a five-hour flight to Kaua’i, we were hungry, and the manager’s fake smile and dishonest behavior gave us a terrible first impression. It was a disappointing start to our trip.
Due to my friend’s insistence, we went again the next day at noon since they love Thai food. Unfortunately, the food was not very impressive, especially the Thai fried rice. We spent over $200 for four adults and two babies, which felt totally...
