I was very excited to try Kaua'i Juice Co. after seeing their spot on Kaua'i TV, a local channel that plays advertisements of local businesses. I was especially keen to try their macadamia nut milk made fresh in house.
While staying on the North Shore, I ended up trying a bottle of the "pearadise" which was a pretty blue colour, for $6.99 at Safeway. Some grocers were selling bottles of Kaua'i Juice Co. for more than $8 per bottle.
While staying on the South Shore, I took a mile or so walk from the Grand Hyatt and just so happened on an actual Kaua'i Juice Co. shop. The shop is very pretty and Instagramable. They sell everything from shirts to honey, lip balm to salads. They also have a ton of hot sauces that you can sample on a wooden spoon (so it's safe for Celiacs like me.)
I was disappointed to see the nut milk I wanted to try was $12!!! I ended up trying the lilikoi lychee flavour, which was only $5.
I've had probably umpteen zillion kombucha brands in my life as well as making my own at home. I usually stick to GT's because of how flavourful it tastes. Honestly, while the drinks are gorgeous with gorgeous packaging, they don't taste like anything. Both kombuchas that I tried from them had a non-discript flavour and definitely not the strong, distinct kombucha flavour in homemade kombucha.
Even my husband, who refuses to even try kombucha because of the fermented smell, tried this one and his first words were "this doesn't taste like lilikoi or lychee."
Was my drink bad? No. It just had less flavour than a La Croix.

Read moreThe Kabocha soup gross and processed!!. Pacific BUTTERNUT Squash straight out of the carton is 10 times more palatable, fresher, and more honest. Just an awful cloying sweetness with no spice or flavor or love. Tasted like it had been reheated for a week and then sat in trough. Straight from a can, a thick dark orange.
Obviously Kauai Juice started using canned processed ingredients. It's become a "natural" McDonalds, just a nod to freshness. Can't get the healthy stuff anymore. The coconut water, no more. The probiotic coconut meat shot thin and watery and then no longer available. The corn in the corn salad as well, NOT fresh, it's from a can.
Nothing hugely wrong with that when mixed with fresh. But for example my soup from a carton (no matter what they say) was reheated for days. Oil was drizzled on top and a couple of pumpkin seeds chucked on. I can do that at home.
I'm looking for healthy value. This is where Kauai juice is failing despite the reviews, Kauai juice used to be amazing. You could find there what you couldn't find from Amazon or Costco or Big Save.
The salad I got last week? Wilted and the passion fruit dressing seriously rancid. It seems the management and owners don't care. No one at the pass checking quality. Just all about lines, turn over and money. It used to be a destination, a reflection of Kauai bounty. I can't...
Read moreI am so incredibly in love with this place! I tell everyone about their juice! I wish I could get it shipped to mainland. The juice is so fresh. And they really know what they’re doing because the combination of fruits and veggies really go together. My favorite was the unicorn and their kombuchas. I am obsessed with kombucha and extremely picky about it. So if I liked it it had to have been good. I really loved the employees in there. My cousin and I are both juice lover and literally wanted everything. The people were so awesome they let us try pretty much whatever was open and available to try. I felt like I was at a bar haha. The more we tried though the more we had no clue what we wanted because like I said they are all so delicious! We ended up purchasing six bottle and some mtc oil. They also have some really awesome hot sauces in there that you can try and so much more!! If you’re in the area you have to try it even if you’re not into juice..there’s something in there for you that...
