Olympic Cafe — Restaurant in Kauai

This is an awesome place to have breakfast ..lunch or dinner... We had tried there breakfast - Bourbon french toast with a side of crispy bacon....it was sweet guava bread topped with the Jack Daniels bourbon sauce with raspberries and blueberries... This was sooooo yummmy.....the atmosphere here was amazing also...open air bar and restaurant....got a cool breeze while sitting at the table... BF and I went out to the beach for a bit and came back to have a drink before heading back to the coral reef hotel...we both had a lava flow...my 1st time having one of those....it was great....made very well...one if my favorite now... Our waitress that we had for breakfast was there and waited on us again..she was great very nice and friendly....an awesome waitress...

May 10 2023 Bf and I came back to Kauai for a couple of weeks. We decide to go to our favorite place for lunch. I had the burger with 3 slices of Maui gold pineapple…. Best pineapple in the world … Bf had BLT with fries…. We both had a drink, I had pina colada and he had a lava flow.. Tasty drinks but very week - to me not worth the price we paid for the drinks… Food was great but the drinks not so good - weak

May 14 2023 We went there for breakfast this morning. They have no senior menu or a children menu for people that can’t eat a full on breakfast. I ask if I could get one pancake cuz I saw what the ONLY 3 stack looked like. 3 pancakes that fill the full breakfast plate…they would rather me order that and throw out/waste all that food…what a shame…So I decide to go with there 2 egg Bacon and toast breakfast, I was asked how I would like my eggs, I ask for egg whites only …. Was told I could not have them that way…So I ended up with a bowel of oatmeal - HUGE bowl … again I could only eat half of it …. Again no half size of anything …..My bf loves bourbon so he ordered there bourbon French toast… good sauce but he could not eat all of it cuz the middle of each toast was uncooked soggy-raw..

This will the last time we eat there for breakfast for this visit to Kauai.

They really need a senior, or offer a lighter side option on there menu….if they do have a child menu if someone can’t eat a full size plate let them order from that menu… I hate all the wasted food that happens not just there but at all...

We were hungry. Looked like a great place, up stairs, we were excited to try a new place. We were seated immediately in a booth over looking the street by the tall guy (manager maybe?). It was around 1pm on Veterans Day. The waitress gave us water and said she will be right with us. It was longer then expected, but we were ready with our food and drink order and when she came by, she said she will be right with us and that there was one table ahead if us. Again, a long wait. The place wasn't even half full and counted about 5 wait staff. The tall guy came by a couple of times. The waitress came by and said she will be right back and that there is one table ahead of us. Now it was getting ridiculous. I suggested we can always come back another time if they were so " busy." Didn't take the hint. At least start our drink order, that should have been easy to do. She came by a forth time with water. She already gave us water. She said again she will be right back and that there was one table ahead of us. About 15 minutes now. The tall guy glanced at us as he was doing what ever the tall guy was doing. Our planned order would have come to around $100 with tip. We got up and left the establishment. I just want to say that I am very impressed when a company that is so successful that they will allow customers to leave because of lack of service. Four times we were told she will be right with us. Two of them with "one table ahead of us." Getting water twice. Couldn't even get the tall guys attention as we left. Went down the street to to the BV Bourbon and Ale house with a nice menu and saved us 20 bucks....

My wife and I went here for calamari around lunch and really enjoyed it. We sat in a booth near the street. It was not crowded. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly. We decided to come back the next morning for breakfast and had a completely different experience. We sat in the same area, but this time our table was sticky. I asked if My potatoes could be cooked to where they're crispy and was told NO. My wife wanted cheese on her scrambled eggs and was told NO and that we can't substitute anything on the menu which is understandable but we're not trying to substitute anything. We're just asking for the potatoes to be cooked a little longer and for cheese to be added to the eggs. It seemed like no matter what my wife requested she was told NO. We've never been told NO so much in a restaurant before so it was quite abnormal and shocking. My wife received coffee but nobody ever came back around to provide a coffee refill which is very odd. We're accustom to someone coming back around asking if we want more coffee. Other customers in the booths nearby overheard our experience and our conversation. All of us began to complain amongst ourselves about being told NO for simple restaurant requests. All of us stated that we now understand why this restaurant is not crowded and why the restaurant down the street is...
