El Taco Feliz - Happy taco — Restaurant in Kauai

This place might not be for everyone as it’s basically a food truck with two picnic tables in front so hardly even a place to sit. But the fish tacos are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Believe the hype and all of the reviews, holy cow were they tasty! The corn tortillas were made from scratch and they were giant tacos. The cream sauce was just the right amount to top the generous portions of fish and they topped it with Cole slaw and diced tomatoes and it was honestly perfect. I enjoyed it so much! The rice and beans were also amazing, not too salty, everything tasted like it had been cooked out of a Mexican grandma’s kitchen…which I think it basically was!! The only bummer for us is that they were out of carnitas and steak so we didn’t get to try some of the other taco flavors we wanted. But my dad got a chicken burrito with the green sauce everyone talks about (highly modified as he is picky) and he raved about it so all around, a thumbs up on the food!

We sat at a table and fed the chickens (sorry!) and my kid enjoyed that so much. We went right when they opened on a slow day so no our was there the entire time we ate!

I will be honest and say I was a bit concerned about the state of Mexican food on Kauai... But El Taco Feliz totally changed my mind. This is one of the best, most authentic Mexican eateries I have been to in some time. Absolutely stellar tacos (especially Al Pastor), quesadillas, and burritos, plus the house made sauce (thought spicy) is fantastic. If you are staying on Kauai and looking for Mexican, please PLEASE go to El Taco Feliz. You will not be disappointed. Final note: it is a stationary food truck, so seating is limited to 3 tables, therefore takeout may be your best option. Though if you can stay to eat, you will get to watch the family of chickens that lives nearby/under the truck...

Fabulous parked Food Truck located in Kapaa! The Truck is located in the middle of shopping and tents, which makes it a prime location to have a lot of fun. We ordered the fish tacos, chicken tacos, and homemade hibiscus juice. They have covered picnic tables that have some overgrown plants, which makes it cool and fun to sit under. The owner hand makes the tortillas, and you can tell. The flavor of the tacos and tortillas are so fresh and delicious. If you are looking to do some shopping and have lunch, stop here!
